Hawaii is reliably blue but as the bumper sticker goes, "this ain't the mainland". Some crazy left ideas pop up but we don't get them as bad, the people here aren't as lefty. I don't think we will ever get as bad as Portland.
So you think there's enough East Asian progressivism to prevent the "outlyer" degenerates from feeling emboldened to casually assault officers without fear of getting hit with real charges and being on the watchlist to appear for a court date?
Once upon a time here, there used to be the "
braddah" enforcers. If anyone used to act up, they would quickly pull that "
troublemaker" aside and in a lot of cases you would never hear from them again. I heard of folks who were found later buried in cane fields, and somebody on Kauai was thrown into a processing facility and all anybody could find of him was his shoes.
Also DLNR used to actively check campers for permits, even roust them awake at 4 in the morning in some cases.
Bottom line is there used to be more overall enforcement around here between local vigilantes and law enforcement, now it feels like anybody can do whatever they want now. (Speed around late at night up a public street, be schizophrenic screaming terrets syndrome and defecate in front of private buildings, camp overnight off the beaten path after the authorities go home for the day, this happens at beach parks also etc.) On top of it, a lot of people have become so tolerant to the lack of authority. "
Bom-bye" "
pass the buck"? Or scared into submission because they don't want to be labeled a
snitch or
repercussions.
What happened between the 70s and now?
