I've been hearing a lot about subsidies.  I've never ever received any.  WHen the ACA began, I was in my 20's, thus a healty male who has the lowest chance of using medical.  Yet I wasn't given any, IIRC I was making like $40K a year.

The majority of subsidies work in the background and aren't tied directly to the patients, but rather on the institutional level.
The problem is you have hospitals who are now owned by insurance companies that charge thousands of dollars for a 30 cent piece of plastic in order to artificially inflate costs.
Then they go to the government and are like "SEEE! We must raise our prices in order to survive! Hand over trillions of dollars or we will pass it all directly on to consumers."
It's an extortion racket that has been bankrupting and murdering people for years, but they have never taken it this far before.
Keep in mind that the Arab Spring was basically a series of food riots that toppled governments and you will have a better idea of what to expect if this is allowed to continue.
