Heh.  I got a bulk-rate postcard from my tax people inviting me to use their services next year.

I noticed the stamp on it was a little unusual --an "ALOHA" stamp.

The tiny image looked like a camouflage T-shirt which seemd a little unusual for (A) Hawaii and (B) the Postal Service, so I looked a little closer and saw that it was a Hawaiian-style buttoned shirt, but I couldn't make out the pattern.

So I looked it up:

Huh.  The volcano version of the shirt.  It does look like camo, though, doesn't it?  A slightly better pic of it on the postcard is attached.

These are supposed to be issued 19 January, but I got the card on the 11th.

No conclusion, no "conspiracy theory," nothing earth-shaking, and I'm not even a stamp collector.   Just odd.

Cool does kinda look like camo.  Never heard anything in the news about it.  USPS probably coming out with new designs so they can keep raising the price of stamps.

As I understand it, the USPS makes a lot of money from pre-sorted bulk mailings and issuing commemorative stamps, which are bought by collectors and which will never actually be used.  Pure profit for them.

I myself do not understand stamp collecting except for maybe real rare ones like that upside-down airplane stamp and I guess there's one from British Giuana(sp?) which is worth a bundle.

But that's OK.  Some stamp collectors don't understand gun collecting, either.

Well, there sure is a mystique about Hawaii... which is why I'm here.  Probably largely because of the 07 Dec affair, Arthur Godfrey, and of course, Jack Lord.

I know Godfrey used to pilot is own DC-3 back and forth to the Islands, and as a kid, that fascinated me no end --that a private pilot could fly his own "big" plane. 

And Jack and Marie Lord were pretty good ambassadors for HI.  I uderstand Jack and Marie distributed quite a bit of their $40M fortune to various charities and things out there.

When I wa there, I was really impressed with the enormous natural beauty.  Colorado has its own, but let's face it, this is an arid area, and by July or August, everything is turning brown again. 

So no wonder Colt808's buddies "...were more interested in the box than the stuff that was in it."
