This was a test project utilizing the old Bullseye powder with some very light cast bullets. More info later....

I reliably make IPSC Major out of a 5" barrel by putting 4.8-4.9 grains of Green Dot under a 200 grain SWC. (830 to 890 fps)

With a 170 grain bullet I'd need to go 1000 FPS. Still subsonic. Big bullets are great.

This was a test project. I don't think these bullets were intended for action pistol shooting. The nose profile is really sharp and tends to jam on the throat of conventional 1911 bbls.  Also, the powder is about 70 years old. I inherited this stuff from folks who passed away. So far, the loads are shooting ok for regular marksmanship practice. The price is nearly zero. Another one of my friends inherited 4 lbs of old Green Dot powder and I tested that too. I played with GD and lightweight bullets to make major around 35 years ago.

Green Dot is the Best Dot. I think my current batch is from the 80's.
