About 75-80 fuck sticks students were demonstrating on MHS property demanding “ice out” and abolish ICE. Very vocal, waving signs. There were a few adults intermixed in the dead head mob protesting along with these shit lucks, Our tax dollars at work! :grrr:

I remember being on the local TV news or in the newspaper a few times as a K-12 student.  Once my 5th grade class took a trip to the town's AM radio station and presented our rendition the the War of the Worlds radio play a day before Halloween.  A reporter covered the event and put us in the paper.  My Boy Scout troop was recruited as volunteer mass casualty victims in nearby Charlotte.  Some of us had cool injury wraps that resembled open belly wounds, chest wounds or head wounds all complete with dripping and squirting fake blood!  That was on the evening news across the county.  Band competitions, Jr ROTC drill team competitions, church charity events, and so forth gave us the opportunities to have our names and faces publicly noticed in positive ways.

Now we have kids who don't get the attention they deserve for good things that they do, so they seek it out in ways that are more negative but likely to go viral.

Too bad the kids and parents don't understand they are being used for someone's political agenda, and nobody will remember a single "protest" they were part of.

The kids weren’t protesting. The adults were using kids for propaganda ops.

All of the DOE staff who participated in this farce are misappropriating public funds for their radical political agenda and should be fired.

Ah that’s what you want you kid to be: A criminal co-conspirator advocating the obstruction of federal law in removing criminal illegal aliens preying on people just like them.

Yep those are fucksticks sticks alright, well on their way to certain physical destruction - as the mental / spiritual part is already completed.

Have at it Mr. Darwin!

PS: I was in high school here in the mid-late 70’s.  We were all potheads (except for the band geeks), and no one here was ever that sick or brain-dead to fall for anything like this.

Im-fucking-possible.

Don’t blame the kids. Most of them are idiots who just want to ditch class and hang out.

It’s the teachers and administrators who need to be fired for this

I appreciate your sentiment, but I ask you, would you and your classmates have bought into something like this?  If your teachers and administrators had led you out to protest something - anything - other than protesting the Hawaii Public System itself (the adolescent Gulag archipelago), would you have blindly jumped on board?

Blame the parents.

I think it’s an uphill argument that the kids involved are not now competently programmed.

I say this from many recent years up at UH.

If so, how grateful I am that I grew up in the age of feral, free-range kids.

If we thought at all about public school teachers and administrators (this last class of animal we did not know of, as they were never ever seen…), we thought they were sick freaks, aside from one or two - and we were right.

Follow them?  As soon as they turned to lead we would have

a) scattered

b) stoned them (rock-wise)

c) stoned them and then scattered

Those are all the possibilities.

As long as the stay out of the roadway, don't block sidewalks, and don't harass or attack anyone, I don't really care. 1st amendment in action, people can protest or rally for what they believe in even if it is dumb.

So, students in a government-funded public school agree to participate in a protest their teachers told them about in order to get out of class.

Imagine if this were a Trump/MAGA rally, and the students were instead military members who were legally given time off by their supervisors to attend.

Time away from classes sounds more like a carrot/reward to convince students to at least pretend they agree with the protest organizers.

I wonder what the permission slips looked like and how many parents wanted to refuse to sign but didn't want to paint a target on their kids' backs?

If a student group on campus decided to hold a protest against a new firearm law restricting gun rights, would have the same level of reaction?

We may not agree with the cause but this is still a lesson in civics, so it isn't antithetical to school. Learning what protests/rallies look like, learning what someone can and cannot do at a protest, etc.
Maybe the best idea would have been to let students pick between sides and you could have two groups holding signs, 1 in support for ICE, the other criticizing ICE.
I remember doing a current events session in high school. I had selected an article about some gun law at the time and following the article was a somewhat contentious discussion about the topic with my pro-gun rights stance being in the minority among the students.

I would have a problem if students were forced to protest or forced to pick a certain side.

Yes, I would.  Any protesting should be done before or after school as it's not the schools responsability.  And not on school property.

You are correct, however that runs counter to the core directive of subversion of all government resources to the Marxist insurgency.

We live in an age in which - somehow - they can slap a g-string of “free speech” over the refrigerator-sized ass of their open militant confederacy - and some people still insist it’s not an obscene violation of the social contract.

It’s sick madness - the only path back to civil society is for literally everyone to stomp it to death wherever they show it.

Hey fruit loop yes we all have rights but there is a responsibility for exercising those rights. When these half hatched shit birds are at the curb or just off it waving signs getting close to vehicles, yelling and screaming then they are distracting drivers trying to safely negotiate the intersection then that’s irresponsible!  8)

Going to school to protest instead of learning is like coming to a gun forum just to argue anything about guns.
These children have little life experience and are just lemmings being used by our local DOE.
