I know our Sheriff is a pro gun guy. The head Sheriff is an Army National Guard officer and I have spoken at length about the 2a. He is a proud supporter and knows guns.

We need to write letters to the Hawaii State Sheriff asking him to follow in the foot steps of other Sheriff's around the country.

That's dumb. The sheriff here is appointed. The sheriffs in the mainland are elected. See the big difference there.

So in your opinion, we should not follow any option available to help protect our rights?  I don't care if the Sheriff in Hawaii is appointed or elected, he is still the highest power of the land.  Maybe it will fall on deaf ears, but our letters to Congress probably do the same.  Don't write a letter if you don't want to, it is currently a free country and you can do as you wish.

Write the letters. Writing a letter to the sheriff asking him not to follow federal law is dumb. Senators would be a better option. The president needs congressional approval to pass a ban. We have 2 lame senators so were fucked anyway. Our senators have zero weight with congress and will go with the popular vote to make friends. Face the truth. Hawaii is dependent on what he other states senators do. We're fucked.

That may very well be, but I'm not going to give up just because everything about Hawaii is half ass.  This is the same mentality of people who don't vote...  If everyone that says it won't make a difference voted, then it would.

Appointed not elected, that was the difference, thanks Dblnaknak.  All of these folks from the top down swear to uphold the Constitution but yet violate it at the same time.

Similar stories of this in Kentucky and Texas.  No doubt there will be more, but more or less just venting.
