i'm thinking voting for the highest-ranking (D) opposition candidates of the (D) incumbents.  But they're all nobodies.

if you vote for Bu Laia (N), that's a throw-away ballot.  but at least, it's a LOL throw-away.

I'm thinking of sending it back with all the candidates boxes marked and include a bottle of white-out.

I think the problem with politics is that people SERVING make a career out of it and a candidate's qualifications have nothing to do with all these political buzzwords" "affordable housing" "job creation" "affordability" etc. They throw out all these promises but have no plan and lack the skill / experience to fix the problems at hand. Because of this they make the problems worse.
An example, I attended a local neighborhood board meeting to defend a certain range that existed decades before housing. They were electing a board member. There were two candidates: one who was a retired, career bus driver and another with experience in project management and academic achievements. "brah guess who den wen pick?" "Da guy with the most experiencesses with the publik infastrucutre lidat..."
We pick the wrong persons for the job based on metrics that don't have much relevance. Would you have a physical therapist do open heart surgery on you?

Tam offered no metrics to support his claims that he made: the district a better place, combatting noise and climate change, and working to improve safety.

Interesting times.

One thing I can see going on  - here in Kalihi - probably other places in Hawaii as well - is the conflict between the old-line local democrats and the hideous straight-up communists (i.e. DSA types) who have wormed their way up out of their sewer.

Some, like Ikaika Hussy in my district, have already made it into office, and it seems a whole bunch more are trying to capitalize on their radicalization of younger zombies to upset the incumbent Dems.

So I actually see the same patterns here that are happening elsewhere on the mainland.

As a result, for the first time in my life, my wife and I are voting in the Dem primary to primary Hussy in favor of John Mizuno, who is back from retirement.

Mizuno is very interesting - he is old-line and actually excellent on crime - I know, because he was involved in attacking the crime problem we had here with the housing types.

Hussy is pitch-perfect communist - from protecting illegal alien criminals to stuffing the faces of the free-shit army with our money.

If this dynamic is happening where you live, by all means - primary the shit out of the hard-line communists.

It's your only chance to knee-cap them with the Grim Reaper's scythe.

Tried to get in leadership positions across community from MTA board to State leg. She was finally annointed to State leg by #immadr. When she ran for MTA she wanted to create a slush fund from HOA fees for the "less fortunate".  All socialist lines of efforts.Very little experience.

What's funny is that if you look at signs on peoples fences and stuff, if they have a haole last name, often the asian middle name is included.  Same with the Cherry Blossom contestands.  Haole last name, so puts japanese middle name on poster.

Almost all of our local candidates blame everything on "the system" "corporations" in their campaigns. Not one example of what all this ambiguous terms mean. They fail to point out that the govt. is the problem. The corruption. Not one campaign mentioned Silvia Luke or past corruption scandals.

They can't even defend themselves. Jarret does have a point and Case isn't the only one sitting there for decades with no results.
