More fails from Hawaii government, we're screwed if anything higher than a Cat I hurricane hits Oahu.  Most single wall construction homes, built more than a decade ago, will not survive a CAT 2 hurricane.  Most of Honolulu's hurricane shelters were cut because they did not meet minimum standards.  Most of Honolulu's remaining 25 shelters are only rated to handle a CAT 1 hurricane.

But no worries, a fix is on the way: 
In 2018, David Lopez, the administrator at the state’s emergency management agency, told Civil Beat that it would take roughly three centuries to assess and retrofit the shelters needed statewide. He did not respond to a request for comment for this story.

Where would you go if a CAT 4 Iniki hurricane hits Oahu?  It says apartment building central hallways can withstand a hurricane like that.  So who here is inviting everyone over?  Maybe some concrete multilevel parking garages?  Where would you go if homes around you are disintegrating during a hurricane.  Under a bridge?
