"WHAT IS THE FIREARM"
« on: January 18, 2013, 07:39:31 PM »
I hear people saying that the "RECEIVER" is the firearm.......  ???

So theoretically I can take the firearm down to the bare receiver and turn it in if everything goes south.......?

Does anyone know where the answer might be for this.....?

I don't need my hard earned money going to Mexico...... :grrr:

just curious...... :-\

Maybe this was supposed to go in "Legal and Activisim"... I put it hear so more eyes see it and give feedback ;)

ps: I'm not throwing in the towel or giving up the fight just wondering....

The lower receiver is the the only thing that goes thru ffl. I was thinking the same thing. If they get their way tear  it all apart and say you parted it out all but the lower since that's what has the serial number.

If it all came down to that, I'd either donate my stuff to a war museum or demilitarize it and keep it as a paper weight

this fight has just begun.  No one is turning anything in.

Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

The "powers that be", whether Federal, State, or County, are only concerned with the part that is uniquely serialized and traceable. It's usually all I ever take in when registering.

So yes, technically you could just turn in the serialized part if it ever came to that. Personally, if it ever came down to it, I'd take a bandsaw to my stuff (to demil), show them that it's been done and I KEEP the pieces. What's mine is mine and I sure as hell ain't going to let some goons melt down or sink them in the ocean.

It's my belief that you are not legally liable or responsible to show HPD the chopped receiver if you choose that route.
That said, all of us MAY be faced with the life changing decision as to what we will do if no grandfather clause to keep our rifles is passed (no matter how good our efforts to fight are).
I believe the options other than destroying your own property are:

1)  Chance non-compliance and go to prison; you will be branded a felon for life no matter how good a life you've led.  You can consider yourself a political prisoner but you'll still be in prison with real bad guys.
2)  Chance non-compliance and die as a martyr for the constitution but need to think of your remaining family who will be demonized by government and media.
3)  Move yourself and guns to a free state where you will not be criminalized.  Not a easy task since you will leave your home, friends and job.
4)  Move your weapons or disassembled receivers to a firearms storage facility like they have in Vegas mainly for Californians trying to keep what they own.  However after the MF Global royal shaft to their own clients, possession is nine-tenths of the law in this increasingly lawless society.  Eventually you will still have to move to a free state or hope the constitution is revived in this country and state.
5)  Hide or bury your weapons in state and hope for a better day or they don't get discovered.

Appreciate if anyone has another option to let me know since we're all in the same boat.  Sorry for the long-winded post and if I diverted from the original topic.

Where can I learn more about this? I spend a decent amount of time in Truckee and with reno right there seems like good idea.

www.nsrpa.us/legal/nevlocal.html is a site which lists 2 storage facilities, one in Pahrump run by Frontsight Firearms Training Academy and another in Sparks listed as Impact Indoor Range and Storage.
Not sure how current this is but Impact may be closed down so best bet is Frontsights.
Hope this helps.

Update: just Nevada Pistol Academy (702-897-1100) is listed for storing out of state firearms.
