2013 USMC Pacific Division Rifle/Pistol Competition
« on: January 19, 2013, 12:58:26 PM »
Some say “opportunity doesn’t come knocking…” well, I beg to differ.

Calling out all High Power Service Rifle and Service Pistol shooters residing in greater Hawaii area: this is a OPEN invitation to compete in this year’s USMC Pacific Division Rifle/Pistol Competition (PACDIV) aboard Pu'uloa Rifle Training Facility located in historic Ewa .  for ease of reading, below are pertinent info of upcoming competition:

Background: Competition is 11-day training evolution hosted by accomplished members of USMC Marksmanship Training Team from Quantico, VA. Training consists of honing basic and advanced marksmanship techniques with the service rifle and pistol. It closely resembles the current course of fire shot by NRA High Power Rifle and CMP EIC Pistol match platform. Most importantly, this training exercise is formatted to suit beginner to advanced skilled shooters using the effective “crawl-walk-run” mentality. Regardless of the level of your skill set, this training evolution will make you more consistent and reliable primarily due to its SIMPLICITY. Excellences in the basics are an absolute must and a pillar for future success.

Man, if I wasn't a full-time student...

I'd be down if I could just show up for the prematch and match days, but I just can't miss that much school.

understandable. asking two weeks off from work and school is very demanding. granted this match is geared toward active duty/retirees in Armed Forces; however, we can always look into accommodating those from the working class. at a minimum, all pre-lim classes and match days are not waiverable in order to be considered for EIC points.

I will post the match day-by-day schedule shortly. Deadline for sign up is close of business 1 Feb. i also post a shooter's registration form, save a trip down to Pu'uloa.

limited quantity of wpns available for issue for AD military. Tenant command shooters recommend brining command wpns for use.
Civilian shooters that can provide their own wpns and still interested but realize dedicating two weeks to shooting is difficult, we can address modifying your participation days on case by case basis.

"focus on giving yourself a reason to participate vise a reason not to...." Our staff and I are more than willing accommodate various obstacles you may have. However we will not compromise the integrity of marksmanship training nor modify eligibility for EIC points.

I understand.  I attended 2012 Eastern Division Matches and shot in 2012 Marine Corps Championships.  It's a lot of good info in the classes, and if anyone has time and ammo, I highly suggest it.

"Match" weapons are normally not allowed for this event. This means AR15A2 barrels must be "government profile", triggers are stock without obvious stoning and filing. Sights must be standard as issued type. If you have the time and equipment, attend. This training is the best bang for buck for real marksmanship training. Magpul, Gunsite, Front Site, and the the other glam training won't give you the level of instruction the Pac Divs offer.

Civilian read notes on this form, you will find it very useful. official check in goes 1 Feb for all shooters or team captains; however, civilians, if you fill this form out and send it back to me, your show time will be first day of classes 0900, 4 Feb.

I think it depends on what type of training you are looking for.  Industry training partners like Magpul, Costa Ludus, Panteo Group or 21st Century Gunfighter provide similar dynamic training which folks around the government and military attend.

PACDIV Matches are NOTHING like what Magpul, Costa Ludus, Panteo Group, or 21st Century Gunfighter, or any other tactical training has to offer.  It has nothing to do with being tactical.  It's all about getting rounds downrange as accurately as possible.  There are no multiple target engagements, no "Mozambique" drills, no bipods, no rifle to pistol transitions, ...You send bullets into a small bullseye and hit it consistently to win.  PACDIVs are all about the basics and stretching those out to the breaking point of the rifle (i.e., 3 MOA rifle shooting a 15" bullseye at 500 yards).

Wish I could attend....

Me too...

If anyone needs a shooting jacket, left hand glove (for right handed shooters), ammo pouch (nice to use while standing), and chair, I have them available to be borrowed as a set (all bought from Creedmoor Sports).

I also have a leather sling, but I'd only loan that out to someone I personally know well...

Well, this year's Pacific Division Matches culminated today with the conclusion of awards ceremony aboard MCBH. I like thank all for attending and with only standing room available, it was welcoming sight to see so many show up to support the program. Congratulations to all the winners more importantly to the competitors of other services including from the civilian sector. Regardless of how the overall results panned out, i have no doubt you are expondentially better today in the world of marksmanship than you were two weeks ago. Continue to shoot, continue to refine your skill set and hopefully we'll see you all out here next year!

Be on look out for practice rifle/pistol matches in near future aboard Puuloa Range Facility.

OH MY GOD CPL SOOKDEO WAS THERE!

Is there a way to contact him?  I want to thank him for his help in 2012 Marine Corps Championships.

Was Gunny Otto around?  I don't remember everyone else from the team, but those two left the biggest impressions on me.

Sookdeo headed back to Quantico. I believe Otto has retired. glad to hear they have left a lasting impression.
