Ann Coulter's column this week talks about the unlikelihood of a gun ban happening at the federal level.  Whether you like her or not, she makes good points about how the Democrats will use an AWB to gin up fear with the soccer moms in preparation for the 2014 elections, while not allowing it to come to a vote, for fear of losing Senators like Max Baucus of Montana.  I think she's right, but I hope that NRA members stay active through the 2014 elections and send some of these scumbag gun-grabbers packing just for talking about a ban.

Not a big Coulter fan but she does make sense and appeals to the women who have a good head on their shoulders. I just don't like the way she tries and makes a joke out of everything even if it is ridiculous. Just a personal preference. She is a good writer however (I own one of her books) so I look forward to reading this. Thanks!

Interesting points. Makes sense about the 2014 elections but it is a little early for that. Not too early to be taking advantage of everything they can, though.

This is also boosting support (or at least bravery) for state democrats, as evidenced by NY and some of the legislation introduced here.

You're right about that, and it's an angle I hadn't thought of.  I think you're on the money, though.  The more the idiots in Washington blather about gun control, the more emboldened their Little Eichmanns in the state capitols are to pass state-level gun control.

Nice column . I think and always did that this gun ban is just a smoke screen set in place . It's hiding something ,but what ?is what I want to know .
