HB 426 is the bill we got passed last year providing some liability exemption for NRA certified instructors while teaching state mandated courses. It is the defense attorneys attempt to "get back" at HRA for getting this bill passed despite their strong attempts to prevent it. Even if you're not an NRA instructor, we need you to support the efforts to crush this bill. The crux of any testimony is that reinstating the absolute liability (as NRA instructors must use their own guns and are therefore liable if something bad happens, like a student doing something stupid) would decrease the incentive to have NRA instructors teach these mandated classes because of perceived liability, which would decrease the number of classes, which would decrease the state mandated classes being taught, resulting in longer and longer waits to get into those classes. Ultimately this would make for a less safe environment and fewer people taking the class and being able to buy handguns.

To anyone else asking what we can do, if you can make it, go out and show support for the instructors in Hawaii.

damn, i thought it was a hearing for the SB219.  i had a really good piece written for that.

I just submitted my testimony.   I'd recommend posting that link in a more highly visible thread, somewhere that has a lot of reply's already.  I know its not proper form etiquette,   but we need testimonies now,  there is only a few days left.

who runs the guns across america-hawaii page? I posted there asking if they could spread the word. I agree though, it deserves more coverage!!!
