Joe Biden Fireside Chat with Philip DeFranco

Parts I found interesting
Joe Biden approves of shotguns for keeping you safe, says they're more effective than AR-15's. But old Fartstein wants to ban some shotguns http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/01/24/dianne-feinstein-wants-to-ban-all-these-guns.html
Joe Biden is more concerned about magazine capacity than gun types, but only mentions mass shootings and not home defense
Joe Biden thinks there can be 30 or 40 clips in a magazine?
What if rhinos are just fat unicorns?

Ya think maybe the increased number of issues faced by law enforcement offices went up BECAUSE there were more officers on the streets, Joe? Not because the AWB expired? Ya think?

This whole thing irritates the hell out of me. There are a number of things that can be done that do dramatically increase public safety and banning "assault weapons" is not one of them. Its just the most politically expedient thing that can be done to reduce any kind of firearms presence, sorta.

Which can only be interpreted as a step in the process of incremental gun bans. Or intentionally making the "last ditch defense against tyranny" less effective since the weapons and magazines being banned would have little affect on crime but greatly reduce the public's ability to defend against larger threats.

George Carlin said it best: "its all bullshit and its bad for ya."

Takeaways from this is Joe Biden will continue to push hard with an AWB of some variation and hi-cap mag limits. He states that a ban does not infringe on citizens right to bear arms and the 2a. Points as Joe sees it:

AWB:
- Only a very small percentage of violent crime is committed against the vast majority of the population by AWS (concedes this point upfront)
- LE is outgunned by criminals utilizing assault weapons and LE overwhelmingly supports a ban
- More violent crimes have been committed against LE with AWS after the 1994 ban sunset than during the ban period
- No sporting purpose for AWS

Magazines:
- Less magazine capacity equates to shooter requiring a longer time to change mags and possibly fumble action, which equates to more time someone has to react to a crisis and potentially defuse or stop the situation

His arguments are weak at best but that is his position and it looks like he will continue to push forward irregardless.
