I view her as a tragic victim of a senseless crime.  But she's no more an expert on the prevention of mass murder or violent crime than a survivor of a fifteen car pile-up is an expert on traffic safety.  Her voice should count for no more than anyone else's.

Demoncrats trotting out victims so they can play the absolute moral authority card. And, of course, if you disagree with their views, the implication is you care not one iota for their pain and suffering. This is a common tactic of the left - one which is successful with the useful idiots in our society that make decisions based on emotion rather than logic and reason.

Not trying to sound mean or anything, but what qualifies Gifford's former astronaut husband to speak at a senate hearing about gun violence?  Yeah his wife was injured in a shooting, but does that mean all those other people who know people injured in shootings get to speak in front of a committee?

You watch the news much? Seems like those are the main people they get up there speaking about it. As tragic as it is, giffords, and the parents of those children really do not have a place speaking about gun control. All of these events were the result of a person not an object. It's like mothers against drunk drivers. Ok a tragic event happens and you want to stop it. Fair enough. You don't see them going trying to ban cars they go after the source, drunk drivers. Reasonable logic.

Obama repeats that if he can save just one life it is worth it. How about this. Ban overly processed foods, bad unhealthy school lunches.
