I spent last week in Washington DC and the Pentagon with quite a few eye opening discussions with some individuals.
The AWB was a hot topic in some of our meetings and discussions, with one thing that really surprised the heck out of me; the majority of Army personnel I was around supported the AWB.....

Or should I say was not against a new AWB.
These individuals were high ranking enlisted personnel ( a few E8's and most E9's) from every major command across the Army. Some other personnel were lower ranks (much younger) and gave a wider perspective of the support of the AWB. A lot of these guys were hard core hunters with life memberships in the NRA, so it really blew my mind.
The overwhelming attitude was why does anybody need a personal AK or AR15 and "hunting" rifles were good to go. There was even a guy from Special Forces Command and he didn't see a big deal in a AWB.
There were a few of us that understood a AWB can be the gateway to later restrictive laws prohibiting those "hunting" rifles and the bigger picture of Rights infringement. Those like me were definitely in the minority and let's just say I was very disappointed and made for a long week.
Anyway, just wanted to share and give some insight on my experience. Nothing was official in nature with a lot of the talks being at meals and over beers.
I really hope a lot of the talk supporting a AWB was just talk because of being in DC. It really reminded me that I hate politics/ politicians!
