Folding stock for 10/22?
« on: February 05, 2013, 12:52:24 PM »
Looking into folding stocks for the Ruger 10/22.  Has anyone have any experience or opinions on any of these stocks?

Butler Creek 10/22 Folding Stock $90-100
http://www.cabelas.com/10-22-accessories-butler-creek-folding-stock-ruger-10-22-2.shtml
Looks like a popular choice but the paratrooper type butt stock doesn't seem to allow for a good cheek wield

Choate Pistol Grip Folding Stock $100
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/176473/choate-pistol-grip-folding-rifle-stock-ruger-10-22-standard-barrel-channel-synthetic-black
Looks more solid than the Butler Creek but still looks small

AGP Folding Stock for 10/22 $95
http://www.agparms.com/agp-folding-stock/
Same thoughts as the Choate stock.  Kind of short butt stock

AGP Folding Stock for 10/22 (Blemished) $60
http://www.agparms.com/agp-folding-stock-blem/
Factory blemished version of the AGP stock hence cheaper.

ATI Ultimate Professional Plus Strikeforce Stock $181
http://www.atigunstocks.com/stocks/213-ruger-10-22-strikeforce-ultimate-professional-stock-plus-package.html
Looks like the best of the bunch.  6 Position Adjustable, Side folding stock, adjustable cheek rest, forend pistol grip

ATI Strikeforce Stock with Scorpion Recoil System $110
http://www.atigunstocks.com/stocks/436-ruger-10-22-strikeforce-scorpion-stock.html
Cheaper version without the aluminum upgrade and forend pistol grip

I'm kind of leaning towards the ATI one but thought I'd ask here first.  Anyone try any of these?

I have a 10/22 with the first butler creek one. Personally I am not a fan, I wish i could ditch the whole prostesis folding butt and keep it with just the pistol grip. It is a bit akward to operate. And not a fan of the looks. It is built well though and has a solid feel.

Depends what you want it for.

My neighbor has the Butler Creek one. He wrapped it in Paracord and it's the most "backpack ready" one I've seen.

I've got the ATI ( the last one listed ) and it's very comfortable. Postive lock-up on the folding stock. Bulkier though. But I can also mount a tac light and railed bipod and it's collapsible. ( the adjustable LOP fits my 9 year old son.  He loves it. )

There's a picture of one on the 10/22 show off thread. http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=2875.80

I own the last ATI listed. Found it on Amazon for $80. Slightly more bulky and heavier than the factory stock. My iron sights didn't fit with the top portion of the ATI stock and ended up getting a picatinny mount. Adjustable stock locks in place very positive. Feels way more comfortable and "adult" sized. Took about 10mins to change. My opinion is that it's worth it for the price and I would buy it again.

The ATI one looks nice... It's listed at about $103 on Amazon now with free shipping.

Which bipod did you get for it Stangzilla?  Also what scope and rings did you get?

[edit] My brother was suggesting a Nikon or Leupold scope, but I was thinking of getting one with an adjustable objective (as suggested by Inspector) without breaking the bank.  Planning on zeroing at 50 yards and maybe adjusting for 75,100 and 200 yards using a mil dot method or something.

this is the scope i got
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001JJCHOS/?tag=2ahawaii-20

the rings
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001WJ6908/?tag=2ahawaii-20

and the bipod
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001BR4VME/?tag=2ahawaii-20

they aren't the balls best accessories, but they were cheap.
i am trying to keep the 10/22 parts cheap.

the bipod works well the bx25 mag
the scope rings were good for the scope bc the scope is big and needed the 1" lift to clear the barrel.

If you can track down a federal underfold that would be nice.  They come up for sale once in a while on rimfirecentral.com
