Looks like this one was deferred in two separate committees in two separate rooms on two separate days. http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=6462.msg62234;topicseen#new

Anyone know what that means?

Read through some of the testimony. I really wish that the citizens who submitted "support" votes had also submitted comments. None of them did.

Mental Health America of Hawaii I thought was particularly informative and it was nice to see. I didn't see ~any~ strong support anywhere.

I browsed through all the testimonies and they were in basic alphabetic order by first name and my testimony was not in there!  I have e-mail receipts for my testimony. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Here is the list: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2013/Testimony/SB932_TESTIMONY_HTH-PSM_02-08-13.pdf

I wonder how many more were not acknowledged?
I did not see mine either, and I didn't use any template letter...  So is this how they roll now? ???  Im pissed!  and 2nd is a privilege?  WTF?  Is that on record?   :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

Marelne Uesugi got back to me and said I should contact Senetor Green's office about the missing testimonies. Not a very polite response. She must be getting a lot of complaints. LOL.

Thank you for all that could attend these hearings and reporting the goings on for us that cannot go!  Your help and support is much appreciated!!

One minor correction.  It wasn't the Attorney General, but the Attorney General's designee / someone representing the Attorney General.  I confronted her about it, and she knew immediately what it was about--her saying it was a "privilege" to own a firearm.  I told her she was wrong, and that "owning firearms is a God-given right codified under the Second Amendment."  Her reply was a smiling, "...God-given?  Well, agree to disagree," and hurried back in the room.  I'm not sure whether she disagreed with it being a "right" or disagreeing as in "God."

typical liberal.   They think they are above you,   they know whats best for us.    She was disagreeing on both a right and as in God.

"god given" occurs nowhere in the Constitution. That's from the Declaration of Independence and has nothing to do with the Bill of Rights.

Not defending the idea that the 2nd is a privilege just noting that the "god-given" bit is not accurate and that Ms. Privilege isn't necessarily wrong on that specific point. Some of the founders did talk that way but that language, specifically, did not make it into the Constitution itself.

Law is all about splitting hairs. The Declaration has nothing to do with the law of the land. Neither do the written opinions of the Founding Fathers.

The only things that matter are the letter of the law and legal precedents as set by the courts. Understanding that is key to understanding why certain legal-ish arguments seem valid but are not.

Hey flyboy i saw your friend today, the lady from the AG office.  She actually told me hi.

The bill moved forward, with recommendations.

And i met some haole girl that explained to me how the process works.  If bills are not scheduled to be heard by this week or the next, it will go to the "sidelines" and not be heard this session.  If you want a bill to be pushed forward, contact your reps and committees.

It also got passed with recommendation.
To create a group, composing of the DHS, consumers, NRA, HRA, Doctors, Psychologists, State hospital, firearm stores, to have a discussion and do more research on this.
