Aero precision lower registered as a pistol lower with a 30rd pmag. Magazine button had been replaced with a steel spacer cut to the shape of the button and welded onto the post of the magazine catch so that the magazine catch is incapable of backing out. Hpd did not accept that so I mixed up some jb weld filled the button hole as well as the space between the pmag and the flared out portion of the mag well. When the bj weld cures I willl bring it back to hpd and ask if it is acceptable by their standards. Big thanks to Eric aka dogman because he is da man!!

Hmmm, I wonder why they wouldn't accept that. Still no way for the magazine to be removed correct?

There was absolutely no way to detach the magazine less breaking it off.

One cop likened it to the California bullet button. I wanted to stay and fight it and ask for another opinion but didn't want to cause trouble. I just took my registration and said I'll fix it.

The jb weld is purely aesthetic and for hpd. The magazine is stuck without it.

Very nice.

Suka, what do you think of them not allowing it without the jb weld, even tho it was impossibly to release the catch? Do you think they are right in requiring more than what it was?

HPD does not have a written set of standards unlike the ATF. Basiclly, you just got one officers personal opinion. If its unable to detach , it's perfectly fine. If it's not acceptable, they'd must arrest you or confiscate the weapon, which they did not.

Slap any upper to it and just register it.
A 16" barreled upper on your reciever is still a pistol. And also NOT an "assault pistol"!

HRS134-1

........but does NOT include a firearm with a barrel sixteen or more inches in length, ..........

Once you purchased your short barrel upper just slap it on the lower.

They allowed me to register the firearm as a pistol and take it home. They just told me to "take care of it"

Here it is all complete. I am defintely going to change the psa buffer tube to a phase 5. Don't like how it looks so much skinnier than the hand guard.

That was my thought exactly. It was his opinion. Nothing more. I already complete my 10.5" upper. It is on the lower and feels fantastic. Can't wait to hit the range tomorrow!

Why don't you just get some neoprene pipe insulation from Cosco (not Costco) and slide it over the buffer tube.

I didn't have a chance to get to the range. I had to work and then my sons had to go to a classmates birthday. Boo! lol. Tomorrow hopefully.
