Colt 1911A uh..... I mean Star Model B in 9mm. Made in Spain in 1943 for the Germans during WWII. Matching numbers so far. I have not completely disassembled it yet though. In very nice shape and well put together. Came with one mag, and lanyard ring. Light crisp trigger pull. More like a match trigger than a military trigger. Can't wait to shoot it.

BTW, that is cosmoline all over it so the finish looks like crap.

I'm really excited about shooting it!!! I took it apart last weekend and cleaned all the parts from the cosmoline coating. The bluing is excellent on mine but it does have some character dings on the slide. There is a little wear on the various parts so I know this gun was shot a fair amount. The barrel is nice with good rifling. The fit is surprisingly tight for a military gun. Not all parts are original but the major parts have matching serial numbers. The extractor was replaced as it has the standard Russian purple color bluing. Mine was captured by the Russians and gone through and then put into storage. I took the wood stocks off of it and found no rust underneath. Some of the Stars that were imported did not get the cosmoline under the stocks and moisture was trapped in/under the wood stocks causing some surface rust on the frame. My stocks have normal wear on them and are in decent shape.

I used to have a French 1911 clone that was all steel with a 5" barrel in 9mm and I loved it. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. I assume this gun will shoot similar. Only the trigger on the Star is much nicer than my old gun. I hope it shoots my reloads well but I will work up a load for it if I have to.

Let me know about your Model B when you pick it up.

Mine has matching numbers on the outside.
No cosmoline, don't think it saw much action.
Barrel looks clean ....
Need to do a closer inspection once I get it home.
Will let you know when that happens.

Do you know what year it was built? was it around WWII timeframe? When you get it home, look at it in the sun and look at the extractor on the right side of the slide. If it is a purpleish color compared to the bluing it was a Russian capture like mine.

Not sure on year, will have to do more research.
The extractor was a bare steel color if I recall correctly.

It sounds really intersting. You will probably shoot yours before I get to shoot mine. So let me know what you think of it.

Both of those are good powders. I am particularly fond of Titegroup. I use it in every pistol I own. Obviously I don't use it for magnum loads. But for me it has been one of the best all around multi use powders I have ever used.

Eotech finally came in.
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."
