Walther .22 5" Barrell Target Pistol "Q" Grip
« on: February 22, 2013, 01:09:21 PM »
I am considering upgrading my .22 target practice pistol. Has anyone used the Walther's P22 Target pistol? I have read that it is very particular with certain styles of ammunition that may cause jams.

Thanks

I have a P22 with a 5" barrel. Not sure about the Q grip.

Had lots of problems with the Remington Viper. There would be a FTE or stovepipe every 8 or 9 rounds fired. That was when the pistol was brand new. Switched to CCI mini-mags after about 250 rounds of the Viper and had no more problems. Been shooting the mini-mags exclusively ever since. Thinking about trying the Viper again now that there's about a thousand rounds through the pistol to see if they'll work better now.

I have a P22, it eats everything from the cheap bulk pack stuff to CCI stuff, never one ftf or fte.  I bought it used and the slide hold open wore to a slant so it doesn't lock back on the last round anymore but it still shoots great.  It's hard to find mags for it though and that was before the gun ban scares so now its gonna be damn near impossible now I'd think (I only have one mag myself).  at the time it was the most realistic looking .22lr handgun I'd say but now M&P has their M&P22 which is full sized so its a great tool for training if you got M&P's in 9mm, .40 or .45.  Sig also has their .22 and so do a lot of others.  The P22 is smaller but I must admit I like they way it feels in my hands (I also have full size guns like a 5-7 and DE so I like big handels too).

It's not the most accurate .22 and a buckmark .22 would probally be more accurate but its a lot of fun!  make sure to get the longer version with the threaded barrel just in case you ever move to a free state where you can get suppressors.
