Fake.  Looked up info about that site after hearing about the "VA memo" from that site couple days ago.  Alot of bad info floating around... My opinion: Not a reliable source of information.

Or maybe real?  I assumed that article was fake, due to the site... But I seem to be running into a large amount of information about the DOJ memo from what I consider decent news sources...now I have no idea  ???

Right, I came with the same conclusion earlier because of the website that was used.  But, shortly after found alot of mainstream media outlet and the NRA-ILA have both put up articles in regards to this DOJ memo.  Not saying that it's 100% true, but I will not dismiss the posibility of it having some validity.  This is what I found after a very brief search.

oh wait.  read the stories.  this memo is old news.  came out in early january.

they arent telling obama to confiscate guns, they're saying bans are useless without some sort of confiscation, because of the number of guns in circulation, which is true, and also that mass shootings are poiintless to focus on since they are barely a fraction of homicides.

it's a relatively neutral document that isnt actually pushing for anything, but just pointing out the flaws in certain approaches.

what your site did (its actually a rip from infowars, surprise) is take nice little clips and twist it to rile people up (damn, its like a conservative CNN) and the NRA is doing it to, probably because it will rile people up.

its not what the memo says,  its what it implies that is scary.   You don't think the administration will use this to their advantage saying according to our studies, this is whats it going to take?

Politicians argue that "We aren't even THINKING of taking your guns away!"

What this memo does is show that yes, they have thought about it at some point.

That is OK.  If we get sequester, then this should be the least of their worries

The sequester isn't as bad as they make it sound.  They are cutting future spending.   So after the sequester is still more money than they spent last year.

Only the government calls it a cut if they don't spend as much money as they want.

Speaking specifically about DoD...I don't know what's happening specifically outside of DoD. You probably need to tell that to ALL DoD federal employees that are deemed non-critical mission essential (meaning not deployed in combat areas), which is ~99% of the DoD workforce, since they will be furloughed (leave without pay) one day every week for the rest of the fiscal year (30 Sept). That is a 20% pay reduction and many people live paycheck to paycheck. That is fact and that is just the impact to individuals directly employed by the federal government. We are operating under CR capped at FY12 spending levels already and ALL appropriations under further CRs are being cut across the board. That not only means government reductions, that trickles down to all defense contractors and procurements across the board...cancellations of non-essential government contracts and severe reductions to mission critical contracts across the board. People will lose jobs and all of this will have a direct impact on the economy.

The problem is sequestration was a law they enacted to deal with the debt ceiling and to force Congress to finally pass an appropriations bill. They all knew upfront that sequestration was such a insane method of cutting the federal budget and they had well over a year to put together an appropriations bill but did nothing. The cuts are not left up to organization heads and there is no transfer authority. It is simply across the board cuts in all DoD spending and organizations...discretionary cuts and transfer authority is not authorized, so they are cutting but in the wrong places. The government could easily cut the $83B but this is not a rational or effective way to accomplish the objective.

I guess the problem is the government.   If they have to cut 9.0% of their budget they should focus on the waste.
Instead they go directly to the employees instead which is a shame.   in 2008 When I had to cut 15% of my expenses the last thing I looked at was employees.
By eliminating other expenses not one person was let go.  It's a shame the government doesn't do the same thing.  It's too bad everyone has to pay for it.  Laying people off to cut a budget effects everyone.   Less people are buying stuff.   I had to tighten my belt.  I didn't focus on my wife and kids.   I cut back on my cable.  Cell phone.  Changed our eating habits.   Etc.  The government should do the same.
