Anyone here have a Steyr M9A1 pistol?
« on: February 28, 2013, 11:01:31 PM »
basically, trying to make a decision on a pistol purchase, and a friend gave me a rave review of this pistol.  however, while i havent checked X-ring or SEC or others, OGC and KGS dont have one, and i would really like to handle one (not shoot, just want to feel how it fits my hands), so that i can compare it to the other candidates i've handled.

or if you know someone has it in stock somewhere.

I too am interested in this pistol. I took a look at Steyr Arms website and saw that Honolulu Firearms was one of the only Steyr dealers in Hawaii (the other being on Kauai). With that being said i went down to Honolulu Firearms to see if they had any in stock so I could handle it and unfortunately they don't.

What's even more unfortunate is when i asked "Do you guys by any chance have a Steyr M9-A1 or the M40-A1?" they first though it was a rifle, specifically he thought i meant an Aug, then once i explained it was a pistol, they said "Oh the Double Action, Single Action one?"

Complete Fail.

Let me know if you find anywhere that has one, I'd love to handle the gun before i pull the trigger (no pun intended) and buy one off gun broker or something.

i actually found an M40A1 to handle at gunsource.  but yeah, if someone want's one, Gun Source has one for 699.

i wanted to like it, the sights are cool and the grip angle feels really natural, but not only was the mag release hard for me to reach, but it was really really stiff for some reason.

maybe i'll find it to my liking later, but for now, it's off my list.  too bad, i've been in correspondence with the steyr people over this and they've been really nice and punctual, and its such a cool design.  i just doesnt really fit me, i guess.

and yeah, Brettyboy, i stopped by honolulu firearms and ALMOST got the same response when i asked, but then some dude came from the back and rescued his co worker and knew what i was talking about.

suffice it to say, they aint getting any, haha.

but on the plus side, after visiting three different shops to find one, and having already visited KGS, OGC and xring, it actually helped me come to a decision on what i wanted after talking to all the people in each shop and handling some of their own personal recommendations.

I was also surprised that, after seeing KGS and OGC almost entirely cleaned out of any semi auto rifle, seeing the panics going on around the nation, and people here talking baout having a hard time finding things, to see that both Honolulu Firearms and Gun Source had ridiculous amounts of inventory in terms of semi auto rifles of every kind.  do people just hate shopping here, or are the prices a turn off or something?  just thought it was weird to see a shop with multiple variations of sig 556 and 551, and bunches of AK's and AR15's adorning the walls in a climate like these.

probably lots of inventory left at HF because of the price. i was just there and a sig 556 classic is around $1999 when it was $1099 back in october, and even $1599 in january when the panic was in full swing.

oh really?   i didnt see prices on any of the rifles, but all the pistols were barely marked up compared to OGC, so i was wondering where their rep of price gouging came from.

but damn, 2000 on a classic?  shit, i spent 1234 on my classic swat from OGC, AND i got a 50 dollar gift card to kit n kitchen, lol.

all told, after spending after spending 243 bucks on mags, 350 on an optic, and 35 on and an AFG2, i still come out at just over 1863, for all that, plus getting the more expensive railed swat version.

DAMN.  that's an insane price.

funny, when i walked in, the guy jokingly tried to sell a 556 classic swat to me after he just got off the phone with the buyer who said he was coming in late.

i had no idea the price was 2000.

yikes.  2200?

oh well, cant blame them, they got the market on lock.  last time i went to OGC, they had nothing but shotguns and bolt actions on the racks and KGS looks like he hasnt moved in, his store is so empty...
