The 2nd image shows the selector switch on the left used to pick which barrel (firing pin) to fire. 
My assumption is, the design was meant to use 6 shots, switch barrels, another 6, switch barrels, then final 6.

This fits .308 perfect. Don't expect it to fit in your ammo box though. It's way to big unless you turn it sideways.

Finished the Takedown for now. Nikon ProStaff 3-9 x 40 Camo scope, Warne medium rings, and UTG low profile picatinny mount. KIDD 2lb single stage sportsman trigger, KIDD cocking assembly, and KIDD bolt buffer. Also Installed sling studs, Accu-Riser Cheek Rest, and TPI muzzle brake. Still debating if I should Cerakote all the black parts.
