I got around to stripping the frame down for a good cleaning, replacing all the springs and ordered a few other parts that showed excessive signs of corrosion.  Apparently in the IDF they have the same cleanliness standards as we do in the US mil; if its black it must be dirty.  The barrel and guide rod have had the bluing completely removed and the slide isnt much better.  The mainspring was rusted to the hammer strut so Im replacing the old style strut/spring/retainer with the new style with the polymer housing.  Im leaving the slide and frame finish as it is since I like the look, while the new springs and internals should give it some new life.  I hope to shoot it on my next day off.

I really like that 22/45.  I've got the same model, but it's got the plastic frame and a longer barrel.  Love the cherry grips!

Thanks Cougar.
I swapped all the internals out for volquartsen parts. It's really fun to shoot ;)
Would love a can for it, since it came with a threaded barrel. That's probably not going to happen anytime soon though.

That would rock.  But you're right, not happening real soon.  Although I notice that the gun community seems to be warming up to challenge the restricted status of suppressors, so who knows?  I've seen an awful lot of cover articles in different gun magazines talking about the wonders of cans; hopefully we'll see them get removed from the NFA list some day.

Newest member to the family, Unissued/unfired Yugo 59/66.   Still can't decide if I want to put a few rounds through it.

Thanks Pit808.

no problem bozo  :shaka:
To shoot or not to shoot......that is the question. lol
My decision process goes a little something like this:
1. Is the gun still in production?
-If it is still being made = shoot    If not, proceed to #2
2. Has the gun (or type of gun) started to become harder to get in the same condition as the one I have?
-If becoming scarce or increasing in value in this condition = proceed to #3          Pretty much any unissued/unfired milsurp will go up in value.
3. Can I get/afford a used / shooter grade of the same type of gun so I can stash the nice one.
-If I can, I will and I wont shoot the nice one.  I always talked myself into getting a shooter.....    More reason to get your C&R

You really can't go wrong either way.  Shooting is fun and collecting is fun.

good thing I cleaned the cosmo off or that bed spread would never be the same  ;D
