I'm looking to replace the sights on my recently acquired 1911.  I'm pretty set on getting a fiber optic front sight (both sights have novak style cuts).  But I'd also like to get some adjustable rear sights.  I should mention that this will be used for target shooting and not HD.

For those that use them which do you prefer Novak or Bomar sights, or something else??  Here are some I had in mind:

Yeah I hear good things with those sights. I think I prefer the serrated totally black rear sight. 

I asked for more clarifications and here's what I got  about the 2 rear sights:

Novak - is sturdier and preferred by combat shooters because of the low profile and doesn't snag. 

Bomar - is preferred by target shooters because of better ability to adjust sights and the adjustments stay once it is set.

So, it sounds like since the 1911 will be for target shooting, bomar sights would be better.

Hmm looks like you're right. The Bomar sights linked on the OP work with Bomar notches.

kavawava, you may want to find and talk to a good gunsmith if your slide is cut for Novak sights.

Crap, yeah you guys are totally right.  I might just stick with the adjustable Novak ones.  Anyone know of a good gunsmith in town that could install sights for me?  How much does that normally cost?

Be careful of the Novak TYPE adjustable rear sights. The early model Dan Wesson Valor used to sport these, and they had some issues.

I believe they are elevation only, and the screw would fail sometimes. They have since changed to the Heine Straight Eight NS.

A really good combo would be their .125 U notch rear with their .125 fo front. These are non adjustable, but because the rear notch is a U shape, the front dot falls right into the notch.

I use the .140 U notch with a .125 gold bead front. Really fast, and accurate. If I used the .125 U, it would not be as quick, but more accurate.

They both can be drifted side to side.
