Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!?!?
« on: October 09, 2009, 06:54:55 AM »
I know this is totally off topic and not even remotely related to firearms but I just had to vent. I was watching the news last night when I heard that Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize and my jaw just dropped. I mean, really, what has he done that promotes peace world wide? There had to be better choices.

I was pretty surprised (not in a good way) also, but then after reading some of the reactions at Oleg's APS, I remembered just how worthless the Nobel Peace Prize is already.  Just think of some of the past recipients - Yasser Arafat (although together with Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin), Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, and especially Al Gore.

I agree, tuor.  Even Obama admitted he had done nothing yet to earn this worthless prize.  I expect to win it next year for doing nothing.

My favorite co-winners were Henry Kissinger and Lee Duc Tho in 1973 for "peace" in Vietnam---really just a face-saving way for the US to disengage and let the North have it.
