Handgun safety course question

what if you already own a handgun but want to get another one? do you have to take the handgun safety course again?

No....just one affidavit for one of the approved courses is good for any subsequent handgun.

+1 unless you brought the handgun from the mainland and never took the approved course before.

So long as the course satisfies the State requirements you are OK.  I will caution you however if you took a course a long time ago the required hours might not be sufficient.
