10/15/2010 Waikiki Shooting
« on: October 15, 2010, 08:57:02 PM »
This evening a man was shot by a unknown suspect in downtown Waikiki.  Who knows if this man even had a chance to defend himself, or what the  fight was about.  One thing is for certain, if he qualified to posses a  firearm, and was able to carry it, he would have had a greater chance  then he did without it.  Now the man lays in the hospital hoping to  survive.
The following can’t be denied; If  there was a citizen, who possessed  a firearm at this scene, the attempted murder could have possibly been  prevented.  This clearly shows when the people are disarmed the gunmen  run free, and that the police are commonly not around to protect you. I am skeptical, and anticipate confirmation, whether or not this firearm was registered or not.
 :shake: :shake: :wtf:

FT - That is truly a shame.  I too am big advocate for CCW.  Even though is was before my time, I remember the shooting at Luby's restaurant in Killeen Texas.  As I recall from my CCW course, that incident sparked the need for CCW rights in Texas.  Hopefully, we can fight for the opportunity to carry in Hawaii before something like that comes to pass.

Sadly thats what it took for Texas to realize the need for concealed carry, Hawaii woll probably require a similar event before local politicians stop dicking the CCW bills around with deferments.

Yep, you got a good point there.  Hopefully the politicians could move a bit faster.

Funny story this one. 10/14/2010, the now hospitalized man (there really is no victim in this situation) named Damien gave the shooter, named Panama, several stitches in a fist fight. 10/15/2010, as Panama is sitting down and having chow near his company's property, Damien drives up and begins arguing with him again. Panama, probably not wanting stitches again, illegally carried a concealed 9mm for self-defense. He then discharged his weapon on the unarmed Damien as he chased him. The same Damien who seeked him out looking for trouble in the first place. He was shot once in the torso and twice in the legs.

 All this over a woman.

I don't know how effective jumping on a stupid situation caused by stupid people over a stupid reason will help our cause. But then again that's why I'm not in charge.

But still.

The ony victim here are law-abiding gun owners.

Hey guys,

Do not think getting involved in this situation is advised.

Just be the Best witness you can be, photo and video if possible.

First off, Hawaii does NOT have CCW.  Shooter in question and his actions are Gross violatons of Hawaii Laws.
Even if Hawaii did have CCW, his actions are NOT justified.  Victim was shot running away, victim was also shot while on the ground.
No "fear of my life" here.  No other weapon/dangerous implement shown, brandished, visible or found at scene.

This is a carry over from previous day.  Should Not have happened if both men were smart about it.  Should have let it drop after fist fight.
Noooo, had to let it carry over.  STUPID.  Now one guy is up for Murder(in my book).  Probably knows that he has no right to carry and yet
he brought it.  Intent here is clear, he brought it Intending to do Harm to other guy.

Now, if the victim had prior Knowledge the the shooter was going to bring a gun, the he's pretty Stupid for being where he was.

I'd love to be on the jury that hears this case.  But most likely I would be disqualified during questioning.

Michael Green is going to earn his $ for this case, if he even takes it.

Lots of Serious questions

I've been called (and served) twice in the last 3 years.  Both times were relatively simple cases, one breaking & entering, one assault on a law enforcement official.  And those each took over 7 days out of my life.  While I am all about doing my civic duty, I do NOT want to be involved with anything containing the word "homicide" in the case name!  Leave those long cases to people who don't work for a living, that's what I say!
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Tom G, wait until you retire.  I'm up for JD on the 25th, next Monday :-)

Hopefully free parking in their garage.  Not to mention daily pay and Milage, 26 miles 2 way.  If I'm  lucky
$50 a day or close.

Back to topic, hopefully the gun used is stolen and not registered to shooter.  Puts us good guys in a bad light.

Gives you know who more fuel against CCW.

Been told Michael Green most likely wouldn't take this case.  Not unless $$$ is involved.  As in the shooter or family has $$$.
Other wise Pubilc Defender.

I heard on the news last night that the shooter put one in the back while the other guy was running away and two while he was standing over the other guy. If that is true, it looks very bad for the shooter.
