Well, got some feedback for the range. They have it reserved each Sunday of this month. I am going to give it a shot. Wish us luck!
I completely understand that it's not their fault. It mostly has to do with Range Control and the clubs pool of available RSO/OIC. They are mischievous at times and our unit has submitted a bunch of negative spot report on them which went up to the garrison commander in the last four month. They even give us a hard time on the active duty side as well when it comes to scheduling.
Yep, we had an open range a while back. As soon as we requested a "hot time", RC shut it down due to scheduling conflicts. The Cheytac guys were there, OGC, and bunch of hard core "gun nuts" (me included) to say the least. We were politely kicked off the range. Sigh..... RC basically forgot to call the club's range coordinator a day prior to cancel. Go figure.
As a former S3, we always had to fight for ranges on Fort Hood but is was manageable. The RC folks were very square away at Hood. Shoot, with a 63,000 acre engagement area, they needed to be. These guys at Schofield Range Control are hit or miss as well. Most of the squared away folks work on the weekdays (mornings) and the scrubs work on the weekends so go figure.
I personally really need to practice before going to play with under a timed event. This is just an old rabbit from my IPSC/IDPA days a long time ago. It's a perishable skill for me and I hate reinforcing bad habits under a timed event. Life is not a timed event but, I'll definitely default to my lowest level of training. I really need to work on the fundamentals again and again and again. I went to a couple of matches at KHSC and had some fun roc-kin the G-LOCK, since most of the folks were running "Crutch Guns". The fellas at the club were kind enough to let us wear our kit during the match. Nice folks I should say. However,
PS: This is embarrassing but I had no "night sights" at the last MPPL night match. My DP sights were straight black. I was using my "mall ninja powers" to shoot. One of shooters was impressed with the fast trigger on the PGLOCK I was using, but I told him not to be, because I only hit less the 40% of the targets on that stage. Now I am making excuses. lol Looked cool shooting but did not hit crap. I was basically not accounting for my shots. Low point of the night. Sigh again.......I definitely need to slow down and cowboy up!
I'll try and make it to next months match. Good luck tomorrow and kick some A$$ Alex!
