anyone have a CZ 75 or a Sig P226 i could try?
« on: March 25, 2013, 08:01:52 PM »
i'll pay for the ammo, but just wondering if anyone has either of those two pistols that maybe i could catch you at koko head sometime.

I'm trying to decide between a CZ 75 BD and a Sig P226, and just wanted to maybe shoot both before i make a decision.

just let me know!  thanks.

I actually made the same decision 3 months ago. Both are pretty big guns and if you have small hands you'll have some trouble with the grip.

I personally purchased the 226 over the CZ75. While the CZ75 is a great gun the P226 is refined in almost ever single way.

The Alloy Frame of the 226, IMO, makes the gun noticeably lighter in the hands.
Sig has more options - I opted for the Tacops version which has the SRT Trigger, Night Sights in back and fiber sight in the front, enhanced beaver tail, 20 rd cap mags (blocked to 10 by OGC) where as you dont get those options with the CZ.
The trigger IMO is better
The grip is slightly thinner.

Both are great guns and ill probably own a CZ down the line. The one plus for the CZ is its about half the cost of the P226 i bought :)

I picked up the CZ75 BD Police for my girlfriend. For us, it was cheaper, but I had a P220 and I can certainly attest to the latter gun's refinement over the Czech piece. Another thing we noticed, the slide on the CZ doesn't have a lot of real estate for gripping, so she has a hard time chambering that first round-- a real problem if this will be a defensive piece your wife or girlfriend (or both) might have to use. Heck, even I have a hard time racking the slide. The decocker (on the BD models) is not easy to depress unlike the SIG, but smaller hands will be able to do it without breaking their grip as much. Take-down is also slightly more difficult because the slide catch detent is stiff, and .22 conversion kits are harder to find than the P226 offerings. On the plus side, the CZ is very accurate and the steel frame sucks up a little more recoil. Also, you don't wince as much when she gets banged around because she is a cheaper gun.

Long story short, if you have the money, get the SIG. If you don't, get a Glock.

I have a 226 mk25 and my bruddah has a cz75 sp01. After shooting my sig he kinda wishes he got one .cz are nice guns i like the ergo of the grip but there are some things such as racking the pistol which might make it harder for some. I find is easier if you grab the front part of the slide. Also the sig trigger pull is lighter on both DA and SA then the cz and the sights are tighter between the blades making it alittle more accurate when shooting. Maybe one of these days when I'm down at the range you can try out the both of them.

well, im aware of the general differences.

basically, atm, what its really down to is, after handling both in the shop, i love the grip of the CZ 75, and it feels less top heavy to me, but the controls (ie, the trigger, slide stop and decocker) are easier for me to use on the P226.

either way, i like both, and would get both if i had the money (and probably will get both at some point), but since i regard them is neither having a great enough advantage over the other in either department, i wanted to shoot em both to see if i could use it as a tie breaker.

and AmbuBadger, nah, no glock here.  if i wanted a polymer pistol, i'd rather get an XDm or a P99.  but in this case, i'm looking for a metal framed gun.

Just wanted to thank Hi State and his friend again.

They let me run about 20 rounds through each pistol, on their ammo, and wouldnt accept my money.

That was very generous of them to let me sample their firearms on their dime.

So, shoutout to those two, I'm very appreciative of them letting me shoot their stuff!

yeah, after shooting, i went with the CZ.  the trigger was nicer on the SIG, but until i can actually claim anything remotely considered accuracy, i would rather have the better grip (imo) of the CZ over a lighter trigger.

i already bought the CZ!  just waiting on the permit!
