Any practical shooting this weekend?
« on: October 26, 2010, 05:06:31 PM »
I know Hawaii Practical Shooters has one on the 6th, and MPPL one on the 7th, but are there any shoots coming up this weekend (30/31)?

Also, is anyone here from the Rhat Rhat Boyz? What's up with their website; it's been down for like 2 months. Did they disband?

Not sure what may be the issue with their website, but I am pretty sure that they didn't disband...saw them shooting last month.

MPPL has a night match on the 23rd. Not sure about Rhat Rhat's schedule.

Needless to say I'm gonna try and make it out to the HPS and MPPL events the following weekends. The carbine side match should be fun  :shake:

--edit--

Whoops, just realized the 23rd passed already. Guess all the clubs are resting until the new month starts.

If there is a match this weekend, it would have to be Rhat Rhat.
MPPL and HPS have nothing scheduled on their websites.

Anyone have a contact for Rhat Rhat? I want my freakin' dues back!
They could have emailed out a schedule, even if the site is down.

This is the email address I have for them: RhatRhatBoyZ@AOL.com

I've tried contacting all the clubs to join over here but haven't received a response from most of them, Rhat Rhat Boyz included.

I haven't personally tried emailing Rhat Rhat, but MPPL and HPS all responded to my emails w/ relatively little time in between. Who did you try contacting for both?

mppl@hawaii.rr.com for the MPPL. I actually wasn't aware of HPS but I'll shoot them an email as well.

I can't remember if they contacted me using that email address or another.

However, to answer your question about joining, did you fill out the membership form and the IPSC 101 form? Basically you just need to fill out the forms and show up to the next 101 class. After that you're "in" so to speak.

Totally missed that lol. You could try ask them in person as well. They might be a little more open to it that way?

Yeah, but that would mean that we would have to actually come out and USE the guns that he is fighting so hard to carry... :P

Practical Shooting is a great way to learn what you're really made with when it comes to firearm handling. I'm not talking about competing, but just the basics of moving, shooting, and reloading...not to mention accuracy when you don't have all day to pull the trigger.

While not combat or tactical training per se, it does have alot of great benefits for anyone who carries (or hope to carry) their firearm. Plus it's really FUN!  O0

Is MPPL good for, say, someone who hasn't had much time handling handguns? Or do you sort of have to be intermediate in the arts? I've had enough time and formal training to be comfortable in using my AR. Just not handguns.

Absolutely! The most important thing is safety. As long as you are able to safely handle and manipulate the weapon (i.e., don't muzzle anyone, keep the weapon pointed down range, etc...) then you are good to go. I realize that it can be very intimidating to see all of the guys with tricked out "race guns" blazing away, but everyone at the match realizes that they were in your shoes at one point, so everyone is more than happy to help you out.

Head over to their site and sign up for the next IPSC 101 class, you won't regret it.

I second that.

It's a great experience and a lot of fun. A lot of the guys are helpful and supportive, so long as you're safe. Just take it slow the first couple times you're there. Speed comes w/ time.
