Check the classifieds. There were some 10/22's for sale.

You can also check Sports Authority. They often have Mossberg Plinksters which are very affordable.
They also carry Savage bolt .22s which are awesome and cost comparable to a 10/22. ( If your interested in a bolt gun )
Sager, a member on the forum, works there. Might try to PM him for any info he may have on what they have in stock.

Cool thing about 10/22's is they are reliable and super customizable.

I know X-Ring had some youth rifles for sale not too long ago. I would check with them as well.

Good luck and welcome to the ranks.  Most .22s are pretty finicky about ammo. Best advice is to try different kinds and see what's most accurate in your gun.  With the ammo shortages right now, that might be tough to do.

I kno right I have a handle full of 50 round boxes of different brands to try out in the rifles I hopefully can buy. Thanx fo da info fang23
