Anyone know where to get 6.5 Grendel ammo on island?

That is a tough one.  I have been looking too.  Sec Equip used to have last year.  WGS same thing.  I am trying get stuff together and learn how to reload because it is so hard and expensive to find ammo.  $29 per 20 red box when you could find them.  Were you the guy i was  talking to guy on the X ring post but that got deleted cause I started talking about other companies (I think).  That was my bad.

WGS was the only place I found it but they rarely get it in.  Because of that I just reload it now as its frustrating to look for ammo.

I guess you could have it shipped to a friend or relative on the Mainland and have someone bring back small quantities in checked luggage (allowed, as long as you declare and it's in the factory box).

I'll reload, rather than go through that hassle. No rush, however. My 6.5 grendel upper has been  backordered for months and apparently will be for many more.

I feel you.  My  AA upper took 4 months and I ordered before Obummer was reelected and all the shootings.

Lucky you.   How does it shoot? I ordered in December and figure I'll be lucky to get it by year's end.

They toned it down in recent weeks. It used to say, something like "Don't  call or email us to ask about the status of your order. We won't respond. Every minute we  spend doing that takes us that much longer to get to your order."

At least they don't charge your credit card until they ship.

In my experience with going through at least 3 AR barrels and a couple of 308 barrels, just shoot it. Don't waste your time and ammo with "breaking in" shots. Clean when you're done shooting for the day.  Most of the erosion is in the throat.

Seems to vary with the manufacturer and type of barrel. DPMS says their chrome moly barrels need the one-shot clean routine; Smith and Wesson told me they have no recommended break-in procedure (their M&P15s are generally chrome-lined).

If the worst you'll be out is some time,  I figure eh, why not?  Besides, you'll use ammo at a slower rate during break-in

Maybe the rain will assist with the break-in process?  Fire, rinse, repeat ...   

New break in procedure. Fire, dunk in ponding water to clean and cool barrel, repeat.  Thanks for the heads up about the weather!

I've seen some 6.5 brass for sale at the gun show for $1.30 each....
