It is approaching 2 weeks since I tossed out the idea.
There does not seem to be any interest in volunteer mentors. A formal class seems too cumbersome.

So I will walk the walk.
I am willing to mentor 1 person per week. Preferably on Monday or Tuesday morning between 8am to 11am.
But if you ask for my help, you must also walk the walk. You must show me that you have already purchased a reloading press.

Send a private message with a picture of your press, preferably mounted on a table, and then we can pick a good day.

If you don't have a press yet, post a message with your particular needs and you will get plenty of opinions.
Like Harry says, "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one."

================
weekend morning might be ok.
There is a lot of stuff going on this month though.
Seems like lots of relatives are graduating this year, my son too.

Don't you already reload? I saw your stuck 223 adventure.

Am a newb to reloading still looking for the magic past "screw in the die to just touching the case and back it out 1/2 a turn" etc.

You did see the pic posted about the primer feed tube through the ceiling too right?
(luckily no that wasn't me)

I'm still new at reloading. Watching lots of YouTube and learn briefly on single stage RCBS. Learning by yourself is not easy. You tend to triple check your loads and make mistakes.  I was loading  45acp primer and was wondering why the large primer would not go in. Find out one of the brass had small primer pocket. Glad the primer did not go off.  I made 50 and went to range. Fit case gauge and magazine ok. First round enter chamber for 1911. Would not fire, eject, second round, would not chamber. Felt stupid. I check oal from book and was fine. I compare to factory load and found out my oal was way to long. Will try again. My advice is that YouTube will not tell you everything. Take a class from someone who know what he is doing, ask question. Load safe

^^^Be careful about the Youtube thing.  You have no idea who is filming.

Do - buy reloading manuals from creditable sources (Sierra, Hornady, etc.).

I learned to reload by reading the Hodgdon manual and carefully following the instructions that came with my Dillon XL650.  It's not that hard, but there is no margin for error, so don't try to cut any corners and do exactly what the book says.

It really helps to have a chronograph, just to make sure that you're not doing anything stupid.

You think we can send enough chronographs to everyone in DC and Hawaii State government?  I'll donate if it helps!!
When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".

I'm going to have to disagree. When reloading typical ammo, rifle or pistol, there is a fairly large margin for error. UNLESS you are loading close to maximum, obviously.

And a chrono is not needed to tell you if you are doing something stupid.

If yer shootin yer pistol and the magazine blows out the bottom and spills ammo all over the ground....
Here's yer sign

If ya look at yer target and ya got oblong holes....
Here's yer sign

If ya load yer gun and the bullit only goes half way into the chamber...
Here's yer sign

If ya pulls the trigger and yer gun goes "plap" instead of "boom"
Here's yer sign

If yer sightin' in yer gun and the target looks like somebody shot it with 00 buck...
Here's yer sign

If ya find unburnt powder particles in yer box of reloads....
Here's yer sign

When ya go home and yer barrel looks like the inside of yer garbage disposal...
Here's yer sign

If ya have to walk more than 3 steps to find yer shell and the primers looks like pancakes....
Here's yer sign

I would be willing to take a class if ever offered by anyone. I really wish I lived on Oahu "oldfart" I would take you up on your mentoring program. If you ever visit Kauai maybe we could schedule a session. I am still in the information gathering stage of reloading, no press or dies or other accessories just yet. The more I read the more it interests me; aside from cost savings just the tactile input on my part of the ammo I will shoot is cool to me.

I will send you a PM just touch bases and ask questions if you don't mind "oldfart"

Welcome to the forum. Why don't you go to the introductory thread and tell us a little bit about yourself.

Have you ever reloaded before? Maybe with some friends or something? What kind of calibers are you looking to load?
