Is it built from a flat or a commercial frame?

You need to engrave a number on them.  Sometimes guys put thier permit number.  Then take it down to HPD.

Remember you cant sell it to anyone after that!

The trunnions have a serial # stamped on them which is riveted to the receiver, will that work?

You should have your name, city and state stamped on it in addition to the serial number. You can copy the same number on the trunion and have it stamped on your receiver.

Oh I should have said that these are built rifles I am moving to HI with if that makes any difference. Here in MN there is no requirement of serial #s, just that it meets or exceeds 922 requirements by the feds.

Unfortunately in Hawaii you'll need a serial# to register. So you might want to get it done before leaving MN to save yourself time and hassle. It doesn't have to be fancy. When I completed my 80% AR lowers, I had them laser engraved with my initials, the year, and a letter in the smallest font they could do.

now you made it interesting.....

If you made it out of state and engraved it and when you come to Hawaii....

then took it down to HPD, they might just write it down as a out of state transfer and not notice you made it yourself....

BUT per ATF rules you cant resell it.....

Do you think it would be worth giving HPD a call? We are moving to the BI.
