that they are exempting transactions that take place so many miles from the registration site (to appease rural people like in alaska or montana)?
and even better, transactions betweens friends and family
so you could sell a gun on gunbroker, and say that the person who is buying it is "a friend"

What is the mileage limit?  We could use that excuse down here in Naalehu.. The local gun registration person has been on vacation or gone for a month now.  Closest Police station is 60 miles.

"In an effort to win support from senators from the pro-gun rights states of Alaska and perhaps North Dakota,  Toomey and Manchin were purportedly willing to alter the proposal so that gun buyers who live hundreds of miles from registrars would be excluded from the background checks, a Senate aide said. This bill is filled with idiocy. Basing the mileage on whether or not you would be exempted is a violation of the equal protection clause in the constitution. Of course, I doubt these two clowns have even thought that far ahead.

The court would likely say you are not similarly situated individuals since you do not live in such a rural area.

Bill would need to clearly define what a friend is which could affect other cases
