gun pricing

what's up with the crazy prices for ammo and guns posted here on 2a?

notice not much selling on items $1k and above. I'm guessing people don't have the money and the ones that do are smarter to know not to pay the inflated prices...

was it always like this before the madness?

The prices people are asking are ridiculous right now. Even gun dealers selling guns significantly above MSRP

I Stopped by a garage sale a couple weekends ago because the guy had an ad on craigslist...moving must sell my loss your gain etc..

Show up and the ammo is on the table. I ask how much he's asking for it and he points to the stickers on the boxes from the store when he bought it, says that's what he wants for it.

Really? I am going to pay retail for ammo at a garage sale? I think not. I walked away.

People are trying to make their money back from the panic buying of the last few months. The gun bills failed so time to try and make some money back.

At least you wouldn't need to pay tax.  Prices of bulk ammo deals off the shelves was alot better a year ago.

I've emailed different gun manufacturers to find out what the lead time is to buy straight from them... Most were at a MINIMUM 10 months waiting period.  Most were over a year, longest was over 2.  I guess they are considered highly sought after.

Not all items over 1K is an inflated price to begin with.  Quality/aftermarket upgraded items always cost more, whether it's worth it or not is debatable.

I'll speak for myself since I am currently selling in the classified section and yes I'm taking it personal.  Not all people are selling to "make some money back" or was a "panic buyer"  If you want proof, I can list exact prices of all item prices PRIOR to the "panic" and show how much I've cut on my own asking price for a example.

maybe the back orders will be cancelled since the ban didn't pass... now there is no rush to get guns that were suppose to be banned.... especially if the backordered prices are not reasonable.....

Nope. Got plenty of ammo already that was overpriced. Didn't need more.

I stopped by a few local shops (some on this board) and saw handguns at about 50% above msrp while ammo runs 2-5X the normal price!  seems like the only shop to have kept prices at normal (yet still making money prices) is sports authority and Kaneohe gun shop (although he hardly has anything I want in stock and when stuff does come in, its sold before I can get to his shop).  I've turned to buying from sports authority or just ordering stuff in from the mainland and eating the FFL fees to avoid getting raped by the local gun shops :grrr:.

hopefully prices go down as the assault weapons ban and high cap mag ban are now both truly dead.

at least we all get to sit back and laugh our asses off at all those greedy bastards which horded all those pmags at inflated prices (3X) thinking they would be able to resell them at insane prices (10-15X)!
