perks of having an FFL license?
« on: April 22, 2013, 12:31:33 AM »
so what exactly are the perks of an ffl? mostly i want to know because looking at ammo prices online prompted me to order some but then i saw the shipping charges. ridiculous. i was looking to buy 1080rds of 5.56 and 5.45 but i cant find any here or its like $1/rnd. also how hard exactly is it to get? do i need a legitimate business or something? i suppose i could get more into building and selling firearms if that's a requirement of having your FFL.

well, for now anyone got any recent/past prices on 500rnd/1080rnd cases of 5.45x39 and 5.56, and 7.62x39/51 you've come across in hawaii? just so i have an idea of how much money to save so i don't keep splurging on accessories for a gun a can't even take to the range.

Freight shipping of ORM-D items is expensive. Downside of living on the islands. If anything look into reloading.

Having a FFL now is not like before when you could run it out of your house.  Now you have to have a brick and motar store. and follow a whole bunch of rules and regulations.  Book Keeping requirements, threat of the ATF and IRS come knocking on your door at anytime.
If you under perform the ATF will yank your FFL.  Capital Investment is high.

I dont think its worth the savings and headaches.  Unless you got $$$$ and some good organzation.

I'm pretty sure a replica gun ticket prohibits u from being an ffl.
Plus some Filipino guy might steal the ammo

lol jeez guys, lighten up. my court was rescheduled so i was too stressed to check the forums. it's actually tomorrow so there was no news anyway. maybe i should make a new SN to quell this hostility, but i'd consider that unethical. ill take my cracks. i promise not to abandon another thread.

Plus...u been having some great luck lately so its kind of hard not to comment. It's not hostility I think. Jus people giving u the "business"

to quell this hostility

I do not think that it is hostility, but rather everyone giving you s*** for not responding to inquries about your court appearance (thread you started) while you had time to start/post to other threads.

yeah probably, it was a fucked situation, i found out that because they forgot the evidence i coulda asked to dismiss the case, which wouldve ended this headache of a situation, but no one told me until after. probably would've gotten the rifle back too. oh well, hope it goes ok tomorrow.

that fucking sucks about getting an FFL. i was always told its a good solution to shipping guns and ammo that you buy online or order. i guess it was a lot easier before. but hell, after seeing cody wilson, the DEFCAD guy who prints AR lowers and mags get his FFL i thought, if this 20 something year old kid can get his for printing lowers i could get mine.

Like they said, just giving you the business.  Too many hit and run posts and you start to look like a troll.   :shaka:
