Automated computer message from "Rand Paul" on AWB,,, possible Identity Theft??? (Read 1416 times)

William Smith

So I just got a call on my phone.  Caller ID says "Washington D.C. (202) 888-0217"
I answer, and it's a computer recording saying something about President Obama enacting some executive order relating to AWB and Fienstien "again".  Something about Rand Paul being "our voice for protection of the second amendment"  (paraphrased as best I remember).  It sounded like "something" happened today, and the message was saying "we need money to flood FAX machines with petitions".  It asks "would you support our second amendment with $$"  I say "yes", and soon am on the phone with a lady who isn't that articulate about why I got the call, who she/they were, or what they needed money for.  I asked for more info, and she gave me a partial website before we got cut off.  WWW.restoreamericasvoicepac.    was all i got before we were disconnected.  Don't know if it ended in .org or .com
A quick search found http://restoreamericasvoicepac.org/

I just called ID number back, and got the recording saying this number was no longer in service....

So I don't know if my phone number somehow got on some computer mailing list which resulted in the call, but it was weird.  The reason it was weird is the lady I finally talked to didn't sound like she knew what she was talking about period.  She kept avoiding questions, simply asking "can you give us monetary support".  LOL    It's almost like she conveniently got disconnected when I wanted to know more....   I think it could have been an online scam to rip me off for banking information..... The phone number is "disconnected".  Just wanted to pass along my suspicions....  Possible identity theft scam under the auspice of support for 2nd amendment .  The phone number from caller ID does not appear on the restore america's voice website anywhere...  I smell a rat.
