Fear! Tyranny! Immanent Doom!

Puh-leeze. I don't trust the government at all and I don't think we're anywhere near armed revolution territory. What we have is a bunch of fear mongers on both sides of the isle that are crying loudly how horrible things are, we're circling the drain, headed down the tube any moment now... and that a vote for them is a vote for Salvation!

If this was a tyrannical government it wouldn't be hemming and hawing over the AWB or even over confiscation provisions. If this government wanted our guns gone they'd be pushing for making our guns ~gone~ not just background checks.
How ridiculous. Anyone who thinks this country is so far gone that we need to start killin' probably hasn't traveled in the 3rd world and seen what it looks like when things really ~are~ bad.
What we have is a paranoid, fearful and naively idealistic population that mistakes not getting ~exactly~ what it wants for "our way of life is being threatened." Agreeing and disagreeing have long since taken a back seat to
winning.
People think things are getting bad? That's only because the have ~no idea~ how bad it can get and think a slight discomfort, an idealistic disagreement, is enough to warrant outrage.
I don't trust the American Government but I have decent handle on why it does the goofy stuff it does so I'm not particularly afraid of it. The American People, on the other hand, are terrifying in their collective ignorance and lazy willingness to be misled instead of actually DOING the hard work of democracy.
