Could it be true?  Is the panic hoarding finally dying down?

Found Federal Champion 22LR 500 count box of ammo at Young Guns for $35.90/box. Limit 1 box/person/day.

They had a bunch there in case you need some.
I think, therefore I am armed.

It's not cheap. But it's available if you need it.

The 9mm ammo is also not cheap. 1.5-2x what it used to cost.

If folks want prices to come back down, folks should stop hoarding and buying up overpriced stuff. Vendors are more than willing to keep prices where they're at if folks still keep buying them.

When people stop buying stuff at those prices, vendors will get the hint and start to lower the prices to a more reasonable level.

Hope this is a trend where the inventory gets plentiful again and stuff starts get back to normal prices.

That's a nice theory and all, but the retailers also have to pay their distributors.  As long as the supply and demand problems continue (including hoarding & scalping), the retailers will be unable to drop their prices below their cost.

Imagine having a store with no inventory.  How do you pay your bills, make payroll, etc.?  Then imagine a store with about half the normal inventory you normally stock because of a backlog with manufacturers.  In order to stay in business, you have to now make 100% of the same revenue selling 50% of the product.  Mathematically, the only way to solve that is to charge more for the available inventory.  How much more is determined by how much the buyers are willing and able to pay.

Put yourself in the business owners' shoes.  They have people who depend on that business staying afloat.  Creating 50% less revenue just to keep a few consumers from grumbling about high prices is not a sustainable business model!

Right...I imagine it is going to take a while before the prices go down (if they ever do).

I'm not mad about prices...it is the nature of the beast. I do think it is funny that with all of this "gun ban" scare, there are some companies that are keeping the prices at the same level. I read somewhere that Glock has a 1.2 million backlog, but their prices remain the same. Can't say the same thing for all of the AR type manufactures.

Okay sorry... :stopjack:
