Armed men impersonate police and rob house

http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/128219498.html

Wow! What would you have done if this happened to you? And, notice how the media reports it as a robbery rather than an armed home invasion?

That is one of the scariest things and what many people don't like about no knock warrants. I guess if this happens and you aren't armed, you are SOL.

And if you are armed and it is the police, you're still SOL!

I've thought about people impersonating police, and I think that if the police are on my doorstep, I'm going to tell them to wait out there while I call 911 and ask them to verify that there's a patrol car at my place.  Now the question is, what's one to do if they decide to kick the door down while I'm on the phone?   :shake:

Edit: because I was thinking of two different things, which made the little tyrade about no-knock warrants seem even crazier than it would have anyway.

HPD looking for suspect in brutal Waikiki beating

http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/128416843.html

But wait, things like this don't happen in paradise, right? And certainly the victim or his friends could have used their cell phone to call the police to stop this violent attack....

Why are we only hearing of this now since the event took place on June 17th?? :wtf:

"The woman told police the two had an argument and, the man bit her lower lip, slapped her head, grabbed her neck and choked her.

He also allegedly hit her lower back with a bowling ball, police said.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of felony abuse of a family or household member and second-degree assault."

Bit her lip, slapped her head, choked her and hit her with a bowling ball?
Sounds like love to me.

Why did the police get involved?

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Maybe we should make laws that make assault and abuse illegal. You know.  Because it would stop it from occuring.

Just commented about this tragedy should our victim pulled out her cell phone to immediately notified the police instead of her rock it may have turned out differently.

I noticed that these home invaders are targeting elderly people at home alone during the day.  This stuff pisses me off, I'm waiting for the day they run into somebody who's ready! but at the same time, hope it never happens... no what i mean?

I remember a case a couple of years ago.  I forget if the homeowner shot the intruder or if it was the other way around.  It was somewhere in town.  Tried to run a Google search on it, but I'm getting real estate hits and hits from Missouri (I thought this happened up St Louis Heights).  Anyone else remember this.......who shot whom?

This thread has been extremely helpful as I'm reapplying for my carry permit and I will be including, as enclosures to the application, printouts of every violent encounter that occurred in the last year, outside of the home, on Oahu (read: all incidents that COULD HAVE happened to me and left me without a means to defend myself). I have 47 enclosures thus far, so that should be fun. I figure if they're going to say no, I might as well make them feel dumb for saying "...the police department should be contacted immediately so that proper action may be initiated."

I haven't applied before, but I did get the command letter certifying that I meet the training requirements.  Then I sort of ran out of steam and was just kind of kicking around, waiting for the results of the lawsuit.   :-[  But I suppose it's kind of my duty to be a PITA to the firearms division, so I'll be applying.  I'd like to attach a copy of that enclosure, as well, if you don't mind sharing.
