Practicing drawing and shooting from holster
« on: May 06, 2013, 02:47:49 PM »
Is it okay to wear a holster to the pistol range at kokohead to practicing drawing and firing a weapon like a defense situation would call for?  Since no rapid fire is allowed, I figured at least practicing a first shot would be okay.  Or is this only allowed at the action bays?

Definitely not in the bullseye or silhouette range.  Guns are NOT allowed behind the line.

It is allowed in the action bays as part of USPSA/IPSC competition or if allowed by other clubs that are utilizing those ranges at the time.

Even at Schofield, you must get clearance to draw from holster from the RSOs.

Well I meant just holstering it while in front of the line ready to shoot, but i guess answer is still the same.

At Kokohead, you can only do this on the action bays, and only as part of a club activity.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

When I mentioned the line, I meant the firing line or the countertops where you stand at/behind while firing (not the yellow "safe" line).  Both the bulleye and silhouette ranges have continuous countertops where the guns must remain while they are out of their cases.

I would seriously look into an airsoft pistol.  Controls, size, & sometimes weight are nearly identical to real stuff.  Additionally you can shoot inside your house/apartment if you want to.
