HB 200, State Budget, passed w/ funding intact for the PUUANAHULU SHOOTING RANG (Read 7931 times)

The budget passed, and it looks like the line item/funding for the Kailua-Kona shooting range facility made it!!! I just saw this at HRA's website:  http://www.hawaiirifleassociation.org/
More good news.  Thanks HRA and all 2A folks who went through the steps of supporting this line item via formal channels.  We do make a difference.

Cheeee-HOOO!
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

2014 last I read from the planning schedule.

Range plans supposed to be finalized in 2013.  They recently did a few live fire sound tests with the county.

Congrats for the BI folk.  It's just stunning that this can't/won't/doesn't happen on Oahu that serves the majority of the population.

Hey!  We got the land and space, you keep the people!

Besides, you already got Kokohead, Schofield, Puuloa, etc.  We got squat.

The right to keep an bear arms is for everyone. Oahu would serve the 2@ community well. The large population would translate to more gun users, more gun votes. We all need to stick together. Get these stupid gun haters out of office. Keep up the good work boys. I am so proud of all of you.

Kokohead does not have enough space for the people here.  With pistol (bullseye) the number of lanes is really a lot less than it should be, but the bulk of the people don't use it.  The bulk of the people are either at the rifle or silhouette.  Silhouette proves that a "pay to play" system would work.  There are a number of restrictions that make shooting at Kokohead less than fun, but seeing how many new guys there are, from a safety standpoint I understand why the rules are there.

Schofield is at the mercy of the ratio of the associates:active duty/DOD.  There is a current upspike from the military/DOD so it helps out, but realistically even the range there does not have enough space.  There are days where I think there are just as many people there than at the pistol/rifle/silhouette side at Kokohead.  The range access is spotty and at the mercy of the military training needs..........for instance this month I don't think there are any ranges that have been secured other than skeet.

Puuloa is rather restricted in who and what you can shoot.  Primarily you are looking at match shooting under the CMP program.

Finally, you folks have more places on the outer islands where you can shoot.  The LEOs won't be thinking it's a nut and be sending out the SSD to get you.  You shoot on Oahu and chances are good you are going to get arrested.............case in point search the whole air gun/cemetary thing............

BI has absolutely no public or military (limited access) rage period. 16 mile marker is the closest thing to a range but DLNR can be rather strict about who and what can be shot there

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".

You make it sound like we can just pull off the road, walk out a few hundred yards, set up targets, and have at it, with no fear of repercussions.

Where did I state that or imply that?

I will again state that you folks have a better chance of shooting and not getting a LEO breathing down your back, especially nowadays.  Friggen taped up bottle and they shut down Kahuku school, paper bag and someplace downtown gets locked down, etc.  Frikken stupid here.  I got a veto on taking my flashlight through to Hilo one day because the TSA lady thought it was a little to aggressive looking............same flashlight I took to Hilo for 3 months straight and to Vegas.

You guys have no idea how nutz the people on Oahu are.

SOLEsource684

Haha. Damn typos!

This is great!.  Now bring back the ferry!
