I just want to let my fellow reloaders know that I believe the availability of some bullets is getting a little better. Not much, but a little. Here is what I have seen in the last couple of weeks. My buddy gets notices from Midway about the availability of some bullets from Hornady and Barnes. They come in at 4am and by the time he gets to his e-mail at 8:30am they are out of stock. But in the last couple of days he has gotten some notices and some of the bullets he wants are still available for ordering when he gets to the website. This is a first in almost 6 months. And out on Powder Valley's website I see .224 Sierra bullets available for almost two weeks now. They have a couple of 52gr and 55gr bullets available for ordering along with the 500 pack of the .224 69gr Match Kings. This is the first time I have seen them available for more than a day or so. And Brownells is allowing backorders on bullets. I ordered some 9mm Sierras and Hornadys a month ago and I called today and they tell me it will be about another month. But at least they are allowing backorders again. And if you order in quantities they have great prices and they ship USPS. The fact that they are allowing backorders to me means they are catching up on orders. And last but not least I called Sierra and they told me they are only 2 weeks to a month behind on most orders.

So are things getting any better? Has anyone else noticed any signs of improvement or are they getting worse?

I did receive a notice a couple of days ago from Midway that the Berger 30 cal 185 gr HPBT is available and they are still available.  A bit pricey, but they did not immediately go to "out of stock."

Good source if you like Nosler bullets.  Blems, over runs as well as regular stock.  $12 flat rate shipping even to Hawaii.

Ordering in bulk is great for the pocket book, problem is the back pain the day after carrying all that bullet heads.

Bullets are still difficult to find. For example, Montana Gold Bullets are popular with USPSA shooters. If you want to place an order, you need to keep a browser window open with the bullets you want. You need to check/refresh the page at least once an hour. Next, as soon as the "add to cart" buttons appear, you better do so and complete you order. They're usually sold out within 30 minutes.

Just order a case if your lucky enough to be online when they put it on their site.  They are limiting to a case of each type of ammo you order.

LOL!!! He only had to move the box from the back of his truck to my mailbox. Less than 4' away. He is not a large man so I figure the box weighed about half of what he does. LOL!!!

My local post master knows what the battered flat rate box wrapped in packing tape means.

It means have the mail truck guy put it on the shelf for her and have me come around back and pick it up myself.

50+ pounds of lead in a flat rate box isn't her favorite thing to move around. 

You must have a mailbox on concrete because most mailboxes would collapse with that weight. LOL  Anyway is'nt the mail person supposed to bring it to your door?  It's heavy but not out fault they have flat rate boxes that can be packed with lead.  Just my opinion

Our mail boxes are heavy duty anodized steel or aluminum bolted down to concrete footings. It is large enough to accommodate larger packages in the lower areas. So if I get a package that won't fit in my mail slot the mail man puts the package in the large locked box and leaves the key to it in my mail slot. And yes this thing can handle the weight. LOL!!! The mail man only brings packages to my door that require signature or special delivery or insured.

My old mailbox would fall over with that weight and wasnt big enough anyway. lol  Too bad you don't have a tiny mailbox then they would have to bring it to your door.  Can't believe USPS can charge so little and stay in business, oh yeah they are going broke. 

As an update my buddy who ordered bullets directly from Sierra got them 2.5 weeks after he ordered them. Not too bad considering.

It's definitely getting better although some calibers go extremely fast.  I was able to order a crap load of 9s in the last 2 weeks.  All in different weights though.   

midway got 9mm 124gr rainier jhp's  in stock, act fast!

Cabela's got boolits in stock - all calibers.  Not cheap though, but they got um.
