AK Tactical?
« on: May 17, 2013, 11:01:23 PM »
A guy posted this AK he pimped out on a AK forum that I'm a member. Didn't go over to well with this crowd, which I figured when I first seen his post. Almost all the replies were negative, not to mention a bunch of wise cracks.

Magpul is supposedly going to start producing a bunch of AK furniture, so this may become reality real soon. Also, some Russian units are already using a lot of tactical stuff mounted on their rifles.

I don't get why people get pissed about what other people do to their firearms, that said I think it's ugly :P  I think AK's just look right with the original wood furniture, feel the same way about M1/M14 rifles.  I completely understand Russian units upgrading though, adds a lot of functionality.

Bunker was that at the files?  Tough group for sure.

That almost looks like the result of a 3way with a G36, an AR and AK.

As far as changing stuff on the AK I'm all for a combination front sight tower/gas block to lighten up the front end, ultimak gas tube or a Texas weapon systems top cover.  A US palm grip and good to go.

People have the right to do whatever they want with their rifles, just like their cars.  There will always be classy and trashy.  Functional and bling.

Yep, sure was and yes, that is a tough place. Pretty much diehard, old school AK guys but not much that group doesn't know or hasn't seen when it comes to AK's. I knew as soon as I seen that pic on that forum, what was coming.

Had a good chuckle at the AK dressed up as a designated marksman rifle for Halloween.  If AKs are your thing, rock one; but I don't see the point of dressing up a four or five MOA rifle as some kind of precision setup.

If any of you were wondering, that ak in op's post is from pimpmygun.  You can build your own gun from scratch or alter a platform.  You select and drag the parts around. Google it!

That is what the guy said in his post...said he was "bored on a Thursday night and started playing around on PimpMyGun and got carried away", but tactical AK's are likely to be reality real soon. Just look at some of the Russian special op units. Here is a video of the AK-100 and Magpul is getting ready to launch a new line of AK after market add ons. I personally don't like all of that stuff on a AK but that's just me.

Sure, but your AKs are also top shelf, so that's about as good as an AK is going to get.  If a guy's looking for a precision setup, why spend all the time and money hammering at the square peg?  2 MOA is plenty close enough for most guys, and for what the AK was designed for--but it doesn't really justify magnified optics, precision-adjustable stocks, etc.

I agree but I'm kinda biased...old school and deep into pre-ban AK's. The way I see it is a person could buy another AK or firearm with the money spent on all of that stuff for a rifle that wasn't intended for real long range. IMO the juice isn't worth the squeeze in this case. With the money, buy two AK's or a nice AR with all the after market stuff. But that's just my opinion....each to their own.

You've got incredibly nice AK's.

If I could make a wish, I'd wish that bunker left all his guns to me when he passes on.

Problem is that I'm old and might go before him.

I agree with the you.. I also dont get why people look over the fence and water my lawn....

I also agree that an AK looks awesome when its "Factory" or "Untouched".....

That being said, Ive been teased for the love of AK's from my AR buddies but it doesnt bother me cause they all

own an AK now..... ;D Whatever Floats Your Boat, I say do whatever you gotta do to get it the way you want it!

PS: that Tactical AK looks about 40lbs!

Too each of their own. People should enjoy what they do and don't do with the firearms that they own.
