I thought I read that the suspect was the person that killed the girl?  :( That was a few days ago though

they will probably blame it on sequestration.

If dispatch was on the radio telling everyone that there was an armed individual with hostages...why did they enter? Why not wait for the hostage rescue team? Very sad news indeed!

Tragic... It's hard to second guess the police officer though until more is known about what happened during the incident.  If you were the police officer and you know an armed suspect was in there, would you investigate or wait outside?

While the cop stopped the criminal, it's tragic that it was the good guy's bullet that killed the girl too.
I think, therefore I am armed.

The bad guy had served 9 years in prison and was wanted for parole violation, so by law, he couldn't legally even have a gun.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

if only the cop had followed NY law like an average citizen would have to and only had 7 bullets in his gun...  she still would be alive!

8 shots does seem excessive, considering a hostage was so close. Too bad he didn't have an AR.

Exactly, the longer sight radius of an AR may have helped.

eh, if I can put 10 rounds into a 4 inch hole at 25 yards (and I'm not even that good of a shooter) with a stock glock, a trained LEO should have been able to down a suspect without killing the hostage!

If you can empty a mag quickly and accurately into a 4 inch hole at 25 under pressure with a gun pointed at your face maybe you should join the academy.
We all know its mighty easy to pull a shot by a foot let alone several inches, and thats at the range.

I wonder what distance this incident occurred at, 5-10 yards? Anyone see it mentioned anywhere?

The debate about the cop is valid but to root cause this incident, the girl would still be alive today if the shitbag criminal never existed.

My guess is the LEO probably put the first shot into the gal's head.  The rest that followed were probably after she dropped.

Why don't you show us all how it's done ...

while you are full of adrenaline and a big guy has you in a headlock!   :wtf:

I agree. If I was a patrol officer I would secure the area and call/wait for ssd, that's what they trained for.

However, there will be nay sayers, like in Virginia tech, or one of the school shootings, where people put the pd on blast because the police set up a perimeter and waited for re enforcement while you could hear people getting shot inside.

Good observation, didnt even think of that.

No matter what, still a very sad story (except for the criminal dying).
