Readers digest, Mike threw himself on a live grenade to save his fellow team members...he had to have known there was no surviving it when it went down. The MOH wasn't his first time he was recognized for valor. He was also awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star for other actions prior to this. He was a true hero and we should all remember that .
Team guys present said he called it out, and dove on it....and saved the lives of three others...hero in any book that I hold dear. Mike was a good dude...and lived and died in reciprocity. He is a true hero and we should all recall his unselfishness, and honor him. If you have the chance tomorrow, take a few seconds and mention him to someone.

Heroes are often mentioned amongst small groups and become the talk of society long after they are dead....Mikey deserves our respect...
Relax, I've banned myself..

I was thinking about this when I read about Colt Brennan's accident on the Big Island. One Hawaii resident acclaimed Colt as a hero. Colt's not mine. My definition is a bit different than someone who played college football. No offense to football fans but it takes a great, selfless feat such as Mr. Monsoor's act to be a hero in my book.

Anyone willing to don the uniform and put him/herself in harm's way is a hero. Some, as in Monsoor's case, rise to levels of self-sacrifice and service most will never know.

We should all be thankful for those that have, and will continue to fight to keep this great nation safe and free.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. And to those serving, Thank you!
