stangzilla,
I am a Kaiser member.  When I applied there was a printed form with the Kaiser info which I had to sign.  Waited the 14 days and picked up my handgun permit.

thanks for the info.
did you go recently, bc now the form is different.
before we would fill out our Dr's name, now i notice we just fill in our Medical record number.
which leads me to belive it will not reach my doctor, but maybe just a receiving clerk.
but if you went recently, and this is how it goes, then thats fine with me.

Two and 1/2 weeks ago.  Form was filled out. Had the Kaiser Psy. address. I don't recall putting my med record no.

any updates?
did you have to get a note from another doctor to get your permit to acquire?
or were you good to go and its just scare tactics?

bc i just went to HPD last week to start the handgun process
i also am a kaiser member and saw the letter about firearms permits, and doesn't look good for us kaiser members as gun enthusiasts
hate to say it, but kaiser looking like 2A haters.
i'm just wondering if you really have to go to another doctor, or if HPD doesn't hear anything from your doctor you are still good to go.
bc if they just give me a "no comment", they are not denying me, so why is it my obligation to find another doctor?
and if i do, how am i supposed to schedule an appointment within the 14 day waiting period?  thats pretty ridiculous.

A friend of mine tried to renew his permit about a month and a half ago and his Kaiser pcp gave him a letter stating that they will no longer give clearances to own firearms or ammo. Stating that this is their new policy. Their excuse was that the doctor are not qualified to make that assessment. Kaiser also wrote that he can see an outside doctor for the clearance but He would have to pay out of his own pocket. I saw the letter.
I am also a Kaiser member but when I renewed my permit 3 weeks ago, I noticed that the medical info form has change. Didn't have to put medical record number and my pcp's name. I received my permit no questions asked and no letter.  Maybe cause I've been renewing my permit every year for 15 years, who knows.

picked up my permit, no letter from kaiser.

I also work at kaiser.
so I can see the letter.
and I am worried that this may be in the future.
I hear of a few people that have received the letter.
and most do not get it.
I am just worried that this will be a few more steps to go through to get a permit in the future.
and how will it work with the 14 day waiting period if you have to wait for the letter from insurance of the denial,
then look for and schedule an appointment outside your carrier, and be in a timely manner to complete the permit process.
i smell what they're cooking, and it stinks!

So I hope this does not change the direction of this thread but it is on topic. What exactly does the police chief get to know about your medical history? Is it complete discloser or just looking for an opinion from your primary care doctor about whether or not you are together enough to have a firearm? I do not like the idea of having my personal medical information being reviewed all that much. I guess you gotta though if you want a firearm...hey wait isn't the second amendment my firearms permit? Another topic another thread sorry guys.

As always your shared knowledge, theories and comments are greatly appreciated. :shaka:

If your doctor or health plan doesn't respond to the HPD request, the processing of your PTA goes thru. My doc just ignores the requests now.....

Yeah. The HPD letter is a "complete and return if there is a reason someone might be disqualified" and is very generic. Its not a big deal. If it goes to your regular physician that knows you, then the form usually goes straight into a shredder.

This was said a page back but I guess few bother to read with all the bickering going on of late.
