Back in the late 70s I was fond of shooting full power 357 mag from my sw model 19.
It spit so badly from the gap that my friends would go sit down and smoke cigarettes while I shot it.
Later, when copper plated bullets first came on the market, we discovered how crappy the plating was as great gobs of copper plated lead would be hitting people next to me.

That paper demonstration is a standard lesson when taking the LIFE safety certification class.

Super nice!   :shaka:
I saw a brand new one in stock for not a ridiculous price. Much less than a Korth. I am very tempted

changed the grips on my Single Ten. new ones are from Ebay seller Arizona Custom Grips.  they are well made, fit well, look nice, and they aren't cheapo ebay stuff. I would say on par with Altamont as far as what i got so far. this is my 3rd set of grips from Arizona Custom
new grips are called Magna Tusk, aged ivory.  (its not real ivory but a laminate wood but looks really nice)

after:

grips are same size as my SBH:

I shot the new 686 over the weekend.  shot 4 different kinds of 357 ammo, from some Trail Boss reloads, 2 different ACC#5 loads, and some hot Remington ammo
it shot very well, was very accurate without adjusting the sights at all.  although i'll probably have to adjust when i shoot bullseye side
I'll have to do a comparison with my GP100 and Python later, but I can already tell that you can't go wrong with either of those 3 revolvers in 357magnum

on most of my newer stainless revolvers, there are some machining marks or minor scratches that i think the manufacturers are cutting out the final polishing of mostly the receivers.  maybe trying to cut back on labor.
i decided to do a hand polish job on these 2 revolvers first with some flitz polish.  turned out pretty good. didn't take much time at all. i might do more polishing to more of my firearms later.

changed the grips from the bantam to the hogue monogrip.   the monogrip was a little too small, could barely get my pinky on it.  monogrip feels better, more to hold on to.
i like it better than the factory grip.  factory grip is too hard and round.  i prefer the monogrip bc i can reach the trigger easier, and feels better in my hand.
R to L is the factory grip, hogue bantam, hogue rubber monogrip
i'll test it out this weekend

tested out the 686 with the Hogue monogrip.  much better than the factory grip and better than the bantam grip, for my hands anyways
i dont really care for the factory grips, and the bantam was a little too small for me
the fiber optic front sight i can see better than the red ramp factory one
and the safariland speedloader from my GP100 works great in the 686
now, the 686 is very much on par with my GP100, as far as range shooting goes    :shaka:

I have one of these S&W 627, 357magnum. Built on the N frame 8 shot cylinder
Trigger is 7.5 lbs in DA, 2.5 lbs in SA
Short in length but feels big in your hand
It's a beast to shoot hot 357's out of this 2.75" barrel
